Why do people think it's strange to be single and not married but ok to be divorced?

The short answer... because *most* people either are married or divorced. If you've never been either, then you are doing something *most* people don't do and they will think you strange. It's really not anymore complicated than that.

If you don't believe me, try walking down the street in a wife beater and a jock strap. You'll get a lot of strange looks. Now repeat while wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Jeans and a t-shirt are very common so no one looks twice. Wife beater + jock strap are not worn by most people in public, so they are seen as strange. There is nothing inherently "normal" about jeans and t-shirts and nothing inherently "strange" about wife beaters and jock straps. It's really just about what everyone else is doing.

I'll be completely honest marriage is just like the prom in HS no one really has that great a time but you are still a loser if you don't go. If you are honest with your self you will remember thinking when you were in your teens perhaps that that older aunt or cousin that wasn't married was a little off and everyone noticed. Maybe you agree with it or maybe you don't but in the end marriage is societal custom and those who don't partake will always be on the out skirts of society because of it. It is a right of passage, and different than just dating someone.

Marriage is a shitty deal for men in this day. Some chick will "Eat Pary Love" your ass with a no fault divorce and take half your money and be seen as a paragon of freedom while you do the same and you will still pay half.

If you are a good looking dude who doesn't want kids with a decently alpha demeanor, you can continue to screw young girls (22-32) who won't hit the wall as soon as they have kids and cut off your sex. Since women don't need men for support, high quality chicks will don't need to take the "provider" aspect of maiting value into account anymore.
