I got snookered into attending the race. The course was layed out so it was far from spectator friendly. Could only see the start and finish. I noticed that Ian from Runners Space was filming so he clearly got tricked as well (as he had to drive from Eugene). I think this kind of deal is actually negative for Nike and people don't appreciate being lied to and having their time wasted.
Looks like they (Rupp, Webb, and Teg) were all there. I originally thought in those videos that there was no mentioning of them actually "running" the race. So that was my original theory, that they would simply "be there."
After watching the videos again, there is clearly mentioning of Webb "running" the race. Kind of rules out my original theory...unless by running, they meant organizing/helping at the race, not racing. For example: a race is run by the coordinator and volunteers at the race who do things like yell splits, hand out water, and HAND OUT GIANT CHECKS. If that's what Nike was going for, then I guess they weren't lying, but that's quite a stretch of an explanation.

It was 90+ at race time. Even if these guys had a plan of running are you surprised they wouldn't bail a few days in advance with that kind of heat forecasted?
As for Runnerspace being three this was the fastest road 5k in the PDX area in probably 20+ years. I have also seen them out filming events of much more dubious quality in the past.

Also, the "security camera" video of Webb doesn't look like a security cam image at all. It's shaky, not steady like a security camera would be.

On one hand, this is correct. I, too, was tricked by the thread on the front page, but I knew it was fake as soon as I started reading the actual thread.
On the other hand: I WANT TO KNOW WHY WEBB DIDN'T RUN. GIVE ME ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
ACtually I am not "trolling as always." I genuinley want to know why Webb didn't run. I've been a huge Webb fan for a long time and really was excited to see him race again. Obviously I went a little overboard, but the mods were deleting every single thread and post dealing with this issue. I still want to know.

Its very simple, Webb and Teg ran the race, they just didn't run in the sense you guys were assuming.

Carlos Trujillo is the guy who walked on the UO team after Lananna took over and WON the 2008 Pac-10 10,000 meter championship after Martin Smith REFUSED to let him walk on.
All this hype is coming from old promo material. Webb is not the only person here who (may have) decided not to run because of the weather. I doubt anyone would launch a much-hyped comeback in a meaningless race which offered nearly worst-case conditions for our climate.

This year we are branching out as a club and doing our first official race. Of course we've been doing a free to enter XC series out at the campus for years, but the Bowerman AC 5k will be an official race and part of the USATF Oregon Grand Prix road race series.
The Race will be 7pm on Sunday July 25th, and we'll have a rock and roll band at the finish and a beer garden.
Today I measured out the course. It's going to be a fast one. It's almost two loops of the inner ring road a Nike. It has one small hill on each lap but not too steep and the last quarter mile is all down hill!
