i guess from an unreliable source
It is definitely at Cooper's Lake, I coach within the Mideast conference and we received this info either late last fall or early winter.
how is that course?
Too much of the Cooper's Lake XC course is run on the side of a grassy hill, which makes for uneven footing. You can see a good portion of the race, but other than that, it's a lousy championship course. The old course on the SRU campus was much better.
If D3 wanted to hold the mideast regionals in the western PA area, Schenley Park (near Pitt's campus) would have been a much better choice. That is Carnegie Mellon's home course.
Schenley Park is a nice course with a pretty open start on a grassy field, then about 3.75-4 miles on crushed limestone trails wide enough to accommodate a regional championship, with the last 100m or so a flat finish aroudn a crished limestone oval. 1/3 of the course is flat grass or limestone traiols, 1/3 is gradual downhill on traisl, and 1/3 is gradual uphill on trails. It is not a great spectator course though.
It should just be held at Lehigh or Dickinson every year. Maybe even PSU or Lock Haven. Outside of those 4 there are few options suitable for this race.
Dickinson bid for the meet last year and was awarded it. Then the coach retracted the bid. If you guys knew why you would be pissed.
why?

Are you a CMU fan?
bump
I was looking through the 2009 mideast results and noticed that the top returning female of Jen Cronin was only a junior but I didn't see her in any track results this spring. Is she back this fall or no longer running?

SOB AD!
whats the max weekly mileage your teams get up to during the summer/base phase of the season?? my team typically gets up to 60-65 or so
Allegheney and Haverford are the teams to beat- look for their top guns to compete for the individual title as well. Throw in Dickinson and ETOWN, and 4 teams could definitely qual for nationals. Carnegie didn't do sh*t during indoor or outdoor, doubt they can turn it around for the fall.
schenley park is wide enough for 5-7 across, and has a part that is only wide enough for a single person. Regionals is over 300 people, idiot. It wouldn't work
Carnegie's Men didn't really do as well as anyone expected last cross season considering they returned so many guys. Indoor and outdoor were simply atrocious.
1) Allegheny- as much of a home course as it is for CMU- will go 1-2 again, which certainly helps
2) Haverford- probably the best team, but won't do well on the course
3)CMU- potential to win + host team advantage, but suspect track season. superb top 4 when healthy, big gap between 4 and 5 could be problematic
4) E-Town- top guns will help offset lack of depth
those 4 teams will make nationals
Bump
The coaches polls were supposed to come out this week...anybody have the scoop on how they ranked?
I would think Haverford came in first with Coach Ross resigning at Allegheny. That's some team he is walking away from.
