Is Rothlisberger one of the worst QBs to have ever won 2 superbowls?

I am not ranking them. I just listed them so that everybody knows who I am comparing him too.

Big Ben is good, but he is not one of the best of his era. Saying he is better than Griese is like saying Steve Plasencia was better than Paavo Nurmi bc he has a better PR.

I did not compare them on stats. I would fully admit that I am nowhere near as knowledgeable about football as I am about baseball (where I know a lot) but I have an opinion that is informed. If you want to disagree about Plunkett or Griese that is your prerogative. Plunkett threw a lot of interceptions in his career. He had some good seasons and a lot of mediocre ones. I don't think anybody would have ranked him at the top of his era. I'm sure many fans would rank him below Big Ben.

As for Griese--I admit I mostly did not get to watch Griese, (I did watch Plunkett during the time he won his two Superbowls but not earlier in his career). My sense is that he had a tremendous team around him and he was an efficient quarterback as a game manager--in that way I think he is a lot like Big Ben. I could go either way on him probably.

Big Ben also won his first superbowl in his second season, which is quite an accomplishment in itself. His QB rating for the season was 98.6 which is pretty respectable in itself.

Last year, winning, he had a pretty OK year, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't note worthy either... but truth be told, he's probably just starting to get into the highlight of his carreer...

The better question is which of those quarterbacks on the list won 2 superbowls in their first 5 years in the league.

So, I think it's premature to call him the worst... you kind of have to wait till his carreer is over before making that claim.

It's funny how everyone is claiming Big Ben to not be the best on his team. If he's not, then who are you suggesting IS the best player? Certainly aint willie parker or santonio holmes, and I couldn't imagine the long haired guy who's name escapes me right now (polamanu or something)

Big Ben has a different game than Manning, Brady or Brees. He isnt going to throw bombs all night like brady or audible so much as manning to confuse the defense.

The announcers got it right last night. He pump fakes a lot and it either kills him or he gets another 10-15 yards. He doesnt need to be the best of his era, he just needs to reduce the turnovers and they will continue to win.

He is the worst on that list. But that is a awesome list.

Polamaleu (best LB in the game), Miller(best TE in the game), Harrison (arguable best defensive player in the NFL) all could be argued as the best player on the team. Couple that with Hines Ward (yes i know that was a stupid play last night on his part, but damn he blocks better than any WR ever), Santonio Holmes and their whole d-line its are to figure out who the best is. The Steelers win b/c they win as a team. They are a hardworking family who puts team over self unlike so many other players/franchises in the league.

No, Ben isn't that good. That's why the Steelers lost again last night.

The best example of a QB who was FAR from the best player on his team "guiding" the team to a Super Bowl win may have been Trent Dilfer with the Baltimore Ravens. Given the team's amazing defense and superstar running back, any QB better than Rex Grossman could have won with that team.

Troy Polamaleu is the best player on that team.

TWO game winning drives last night (poor Hines...). He has the most 4th quarter/OT comebacks in the last few years. He orchestrated an amazing winning drive in the super bowl last year. I don't think there is any quarterback more clutch than he is right now. It stuns me that they don't go no-huddle more often...its unstoppable. The last two possessions last night looked like Shaq vs., and that was against probably the 3rd best defense in the league, with multiple pro bowlers in the secondary. Once Mike Wallace gets settled in, this will be the best group of receivers hes had yet.

He is not at that level yet but he is also still very early in his career. Griese did not start most of the games for the Dolphins in their undefeated season but did start the Superbowl.

Football is, IMHO, one of the ultimate team games so evaluating a quarterback solely on the basis of winning is a bit tricky. Yes, great quarterbacks vastly improve your chances of winning but they do not guarantee anything and some great quarterbacks have not won the Superbowl.

Ben has mad skills... anyone see that pass over the middle to Santonio Holmes in the 2nd QTR, I think, over about 5 defenders. Just perfect. Love watching the pros..

In college he was both a safety and a linebacker. It might just be that "yes..." remembers him from that time and didn't realize the Steelers made him just a safety.

I think Big Ben is pretty inconsistent. I have seen him have many amazing games and many terrible ones (his first Superbowl was pretty bad). You just didn't see that with guys like Montana and others on the list.

I got my PhD out at Pitt and got to have some interactions with the Steelers and have to say that when he arrived, he did not seem all that personable and seemed pretty conceited before he ever played his first NFL game. This didn't come across in the media interviews he gave.

I have personally him snub kids (like, less than a crowd of 40 people, including a few kids wearing the #7 jersey) when other known players were signing autographs for them, and act completely unfriendly towards professionals. He seemed pretty self-centered. Most of the guys on the team were not like that. I think the motorcycle accident may have caused him to change a bit.

I personally don't think he raped that woman though - everything around her case seems a bit sketchy.

lest we forget rothlisberger won one ring when brady was out. and one when the colts knocked pats out. two strokes of great fortune, no?
