UW / Seattle for a world championships would be awesome.
This is a great suggestion for a number of reasons.
However, I don't think most people will get it...unless they have actually attended an event inside Husky Stadium (and I am a Duck).
First, the location is almost impossible to beat. If you have ever been there on a clear warm summer of fall day...OMG...I cannot think of a more Idyllic stadium location.
And I have been in alot of world wide Oly stadiums.
People actually arrive for events at Husky Staium...in sailboats and yachts.
Next, Seattle, secretly, is a Sports Mad town. Their soccer team? 50-60k regular attendance. Seahawks? Better true fan support than almost any team in the NFL.
Because Seattle is so remote to the East Coast, little of this is reported or understood. Seattle is also both wealthy, and intelligent.
More books read per capita than any other city or state in the USA. And it ain't just the rain. You can watch TV or play Xbox in the rain. Seattle has a huge consciousness and educational heritage...it and it's suburbs are literally littered with universities and colleges.
Just like Tijuana has a huge Mexican/Hispanic heritage...Seattle is influenced by it's Scandinavian and Canadian heritages and influences. Intelligence, and education that embraces the world. It is also "America's Switzerland. And in all of this Seattle is the great not yet understood secret of the USA.
What is so amazing about this, is that with Microsoft, Amazon and many, many, many others...Seattle is tech both culture tech-savvy, culture tech savvy...open to celbrating sports spectacles.
It is unlike any place else in the USA. Like a slice of USA/Europe/and Canada all in one.
If the IAAF held the WC's in Seattle...it would be a MASSIVE SUCCESS.
Unlike places like "Indy," Seattle would fill the stands not out of an American-ism, but out of a world sense of affinity with the PURE cool-joy of the sport we all love..."athletics.
Short-course?
There is no other community in the USA that could pack the stands, the venue, for one week plus of T&F.
I have been in most venues in the USA, and landed in Seattle recently...Husky Stadium, Mountlake...
d'Shizzle.
Finally, Listen, one of my best makes year ago tried with his team to get a IAAFWC at Stanford, in the Mighty Bay Area... Couldn't and Did Not happen.
Seattle could make it happen.
You have to have been here, or be here, to understand.
It is so UNDER THOUGHT OF........that it is Perfect.
And, with all your support we can watch the sh*t...Prime Time.
