Can they beat GVSU this year?
If ever the year to do it...this would be it!

Mount- 25:16, 25:27, 25:33, 25:47, 26:06
Berg- 25:11, 26:10, 26:14, 26:35, 26:39
Bein- 26:09, 26:13, 26:14, 26:25, 26:41
BW- 25:15, 25:26, 26:31, 26:52, 27:17
Yes Kibway, this certainly would be the year to do it, seeing as ashland is running very well right now with a lot of experienced guys, and GVSU lost their top 7 from last year. Still, GVSU is always so tough and have so many guys ready to step in and contribute, but I think it could be close, for sure.
Look, AU had a decent run today. GVSU is still very deep even though they lost most of their top 10 from last year. With that being said, GVSU is still the strong favorite.
Wayne will be tough. SVSU doesn't look hot right now but should be much improved. Tiffin is also a quality team and will be ready to go. AU should be in the mix for a 2nd place spot with those teams.
Regionals is going to be interesting as Drury, Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky will be ready to roll. The GLIAC better bring their A game to the region meet or they might only get 1 spot out to nationals.
Still 6 weeks to go.
Predictions for DII Regionals
1) GVSU
2) S. Ind
3) Ashland
4) Wayne St.
5) Drury
This region will definitely loose two bids as none of these teams will make the top 8 at Nats.

Fast course?
Conditions were good and the competition was even better.
wow....how disappointing has ONU been this year. especially o'brien. yeah yeah i know its early but whatever. its gonna take a BIG comeback for him to reproduce what he did last year in cross.
MUC for the OAC title
It looks like ONU is vulnerable. Mount is AT LEAST as good as them. It's hard to compare times from course to course, but Berg and OC also ran comparable times today as what Northern did.
It's a good thing lasch decided to transfer...he wouldn't even make Ashland's top 7 these days. I guess it's tough to develop when you have a new coach every year at heidelburg. It's sad that most of these OAC AD's don't give a damn and let great coaches go just to hire young pups who'll work for peanuts.
i think what the results tell us is that Case is extremely tough. What a program on guys and girls side now! MU and I'm guessing ONU head the OAC but third is increasingly up in the air. The D3 regional ranking will be shaken up, with DePauw beating the burg and a couple others fairly handily today. Kenyon thru BW were tightly contested. The race to finish fourth at regionals is very wide open.
ONU beat Case last week. Barely, but they still beat them. Case just beat Mount fairly comfortably. I don't see how anyone can say Mount is just as good as ONU, based off that look at things.
Anyone using times of courses to compare what team is better is foolish - this is college, you should know better by now. If you want to use the times to do something, look at the time gaps between runs from Case at Ott and Case at Calvin and you should be able to plug in where the ONU guys would roughly be at Ott based on that Calvin race. It is not an exact science but it gives you a realistic picture with it being only a week later in the season.
Scott Lasch had some family problems this summer and didn't train as much as he has in the past. Please leave him alone.
ONU is tops right now.
Mount is next best.
Ott and Berg aren't even in the picture at the moment.
yeah you make some good points. I'd have to give the edge to Mount, though, because they lost to Emory over the weekend. Emory is a good south region team, but it's still south region. There can be some pretty big swings from one weekend to the next.
"the best race we have ran in a long time," was stated by the case coach yesterday. there is no way ONU would of beat case yesterday from their performance. they lost to emory, who is from the south. south have placed in the 30s as a team every year at nationals. right now, ONU is not the same from last year. right now, from yesterday Mount is better but it is early.
I agree that ONU is not the same team as last year. I read somewhere, and on the seniors interview on OAC Distance that they feel they are a top 4 team in the country. NO WAY the boys and their coaches need to start re thinking their goals. If they got beat by emory they will be looking at 15th at best come november.
ONU will be fine if they can get Porter back and running healthy. They were a five-man team coming in to the year, and with Porter banged up, it makes them beatable.
Plug him in even at the back end of their front group yesterday, with O\'Brien, and they are a clear second at Griak. If he finishes at Calvin, they are a clear second there.
Keep in mind O\'Brien spent most of last year running in the middle of that ONU pack during XC. It wasn\'t until the last meet before conference that he really started to establish himself as a front runner. Perhaps he\'ll do the same thing this fall.
Mount wins because Gary Bowman will return for the conference meet and Mount will be unstoppable.
mount will be fine if cooper, kornalov, brown, and giese come back.

Just hope Donhal isn't their team MVP though
