Why USATF is Corrupt

Nike runs the show; especially since the show is on their biggest stage: Hayward Field. The only athletes asked to take part in the unveiling of the '08 Oly unis were Nike athletes. Diana Pickler would have looked great showing off that outfit, but because she is an Asics athlete, she was not considered. This Goucher stuff does not surprise me.

In order to be on the list, you have to submit your time to USATF. Daniel or Coach Simmons did not submit the time from Cardinal before the deadline. USATF does not scour race results to populate these lists.

Asics for the most part only picks female athletes who fit the Japanese Idol image, a necessity for marketing in Japan. Diana and Julie definitely fit that look.

I want to see Goucher make it now, just to see the implosion that ensues.

Whose decision is this? John Chaplin, or some committee? I doubt they let Latimer have any say (probably a good thing). Is there a coaches meeting or protest process that is open (at least to interested parties)?

I think it is funny how when everyone was saying Bak should get into the 5K final everyone said Bak should have run faster. Now i am guessing that the same people are saying Goucher deserves to be in but does not have the time that deserves to get in. If you have not run the time you should not be in the race. If Goucher wanted to run the 10k running the A standard for someone of his caliber should not be that hard. No way Adam Goucher should be in the 10k if the other guys are not allowed in.

USATF is sloppy. Daniel Kanayaruhuru (ran a quiet 28:33 at the Cardinial Invitational in early April 2008) is not even ON this 10000-meter list and he is an American citizen running for Scott Simmons at Queens College in North Carolina.

If he is not on the entry list it is because he DID NOT enter the meet. Can't be on the list unless you submit your entry.

I hope he is in too..that way Dan Browne will have two pacers..Rohtinsky and Goucher! Browne is going to surprise some people..just watch.

This is standard NIKE crap. The more disgusting event was Rupp in the 5000. He said he was using the heats to get used to checking in and the process of the Trials. What a crock. Then he goes out and outsprints the field for the "win" in about 14 minutes. Disgusting how he put up the one finger. He should be ashamed of the way he conducted himself and that he deprived a kid of a spot in that race. I don't care if said kid got lapped 3 times I would have enjoyed watching that instead of a kid like Rupp showboating in an event he was not truly competing in.

Honest to God, Goucher's earned a pass in. The guy has represented the U.S. before. He's been a national champion. None of the other provisionals can even touch his credentials. I don't need to watch four or five guys 50 to 100 yards off the pace after three miles. It has nothing to do with NIKE. You guys need to give that tired tune a break.

So should we let Bob Kennedy in this race then? He holds an american record, sure he didn't run a fast enough 10k this year, but I mean look at what he did in the past! Killer credentials! Everyone has to start somewhere, maybe the guys who are 100 meters back this trials will be leading the next trials, lets give them what they earned this time and grant them the experience to excel next time.

Once again: where is the proof Goucher in running the 10k? Where is the proof the B qualifiers with faster times are not allowed to run? All that has been posted to this point is conjecture. Someone show proof!

I do think this sucks. I have read the rules and I don't see any basis to give Goucher an exemption.

A Track & Field athlete is eligible for automatic qualification into the Olympic Trials in the same event if that athlete has:

Earned an individual medal in an Olympic Games or in an IAAF World Indoor or Outdoor Championships during the year 2008, or during the four previous calendar years (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)

Won an individual 2007 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championship event

So why does Goucher get in?

There is NO way that this decision will stand. Either Goucher is out or more unlikely he will push the other athletes in. Mark my words many good people are working on this right now and putting a stop to it.

i'm sure it will stand but EVERY single guy who is in front of goucher needs to be added based on the following.

No way 7 other provisional qualifiers will be allowed into the 10,000. 24 runners only....or else the women 10,000 runners (those ranked 25 thru 32) could raise a protest for being deprived.

Rest assured, NBC/USA networks are actively pushing for Goucher's admission; just like they did for Carl Lewis (1996 relay).
