My favorite quote from the book was that Bowermen would talk about his ancestors coming out on the Oregon Trail and say "cowards never started and the weak died along the way." Before Oregon became trendy and attracted Californians and East Coasters, native Oregonians were all like Bowermen. Kenny Moore really captured that in the Men of Oregon.

Agreed on both counts.
I also like Moore's piece on running a multi-day event in Hawaii in And Then the Vulture Eats You. Don Kardong also has a piece in that book. Couple of my favorite and most quotable runners-writers.
I tire of Moore's writing style. Everything he writes is really about him. His tribute Benoit in RW began with some lame racing story about him.The Men of Oregon should been Me & the Men of Oregon. It's cool that he was once a great runner but Please just stick to the subject. It just makes him look sad.

Quite right. There's the Bowerman The Man stuff and Bowermans Runners stuff. I suspect many runners bought it for the latter.
Unlike most running books, this is one that needed to be written. Bowerman was an icon. Actually I wasn't that impressed with KM's writing style - too rambling for my taste - but the information is fascinating.
