In addition, does anyone have any of the results for the 220, 440, 880, mile and 2 mile, if there was one, from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s?

How about a list of the Senior Boys 800, 1500, 3000 winners the last 20 years or so? Anyone have it to post ??

Asterix,
Do you know anything about the protocal for the records with respect to the "old" OFSAA versus new. For example, I see Chris Brewster under the old midget standard of under 15 on sept. 1 ran 8:40 but since he was grade 10, it is retired since he wasn't midget then under the new rules. Fine. But; Dave Reid ran faster (8:59.2) than what is the current record (9:05.1) when he was in grade 9 so shouldn't he be retroactively given the record since he was a midget then under the new rules?
I realize it would be a bit of a pain but it really calls into to question a lot of the 'new' records.
Mandingo
Castellano's taking them all, you watch!
I can't believe that 9:05 is the midget record now. In 1980 or 81 I was third behind Lavoie(?) and Sawiski (?) in 9:00.7. The winner was about 8:56. The night before they came 1 & 2 in the 1500 in about 4:04 (after an afternoon heat where I got the last qualifier in 4:13).
Thank you Asterix and RunningPhreak. Those results brought back many memories from the 1950s and 60s. I hope to see many of those former team mates of mine on July 8th at the dedication of new Varsity Stadium and the Kidd-Crothers Track Classic.
lol i dont understand whats up with the records... example junior boys 800. the current record is 1:58 while brannen has the old record at 1:50. im sure there were people in the past that ran faster than 1:58 who would count for the record.

I don't know about the other guys but I'm pretty sure Oleson(the guy you are talking about), Stark and Deacon for example were in grade 10 when they won. I think midget is essentially grade 9 now so the question is; who has the fastest time for a grade 9.
I totally agree the record should be under 9 since Reid for sure was grade 9 don't know about the other guys other than the ones mentioned.

This is not authoritative, but I believe they wiped the slate clean when they revamped the age categories with the elimination of grade 13.
The alternative, how would one effectively re-classify previous records to fit with current age groupings?
For example they moved Brewster's former midget record to junior since I think Junior is now grade 10.
If the new standard is grade nine for midget it shouldn't be hard to figure out who was a grade 9 midget vs. 10 or 11.
they didnt move any records around, I'm pretty sure there are 2 sets of records,
One being the old midget and junoir ( age groups )
and the other being current age group records.
Senoir and open are still the same.
I think Matt Leeder's got the 1500m locked up (he ran a 3:52 at his counties this week), the 3k could be more interesting but Leeder is also probably the favourite.
Steeple I'm unaware but there was a few times that were impressive at the TISS HK meet this year, I say the winner of that (5:57) will probably win but in a time of 5:45.
Perhaps?

Chris Brewster used to have the midget 3000 record of 8:40. He now has the junior record of 8:40. Looks like 'moved' to me, from midget to junior. As far as senior, Anderson ran his record in grade 13 so it doesn't compare to nowadays where there is no grade 13. In my hometown I still had the city 1500 record and they 'retired' it about two years ago. I guess OFSAA debated doing the same. Many records are likely untouchable now; senior 3000 and 1500 for example; notwithstanding the fact that Sullivan in grade 12 likely ran untouchable times even then.
Matt leader runs a lot like Richard charette, great speed and endurance combo. Leader looked very strong in XC at ontario's and nationals. Hard to imagine someone taking him down but OFSAA is always full of surprises. Rob earl had placed second at world cross country in junior yet 2 months later he got caught in the 3000 at ofsaa.
andrew heaney has a chance of taking down nate brannens senior boys 800 record. Heaney has run 150 flat with no competition, he has a shot at going 148 high if the conditions and race itself are perfect.
Would anyone happen to know what the top American seniors are running the the 8 15 or 3k. I guess it would be a mile and two mile in the states. It would be interesting to compare the top Canadian juniors to the top Americans.
I think the 800m record is Sullivan's at 1:48.64
I see Heany did run 1:51 last year. Looks like maybe only 3 guys have gone under 1:50 at ofsaa. THat would be a hard record to get.

The reason I see the 3k as not locked up is only due to the fact that leeder was beaten on his own track this year over the final 200m. Should be an interesting meet but I dont see any records falling... including the 800m.
