At the NYC Marathon, all runners are checked to see that they have registered at all chip points along the course. Those that miss splits are compiled into a report which is then examined for inconsistencies. Those who miss several chip points and have inconsistent times are automatically disqualified, removed from the results and sent letters to that effect.
We also have video checkpoints that we can turn to if need be.

It does not have a turn around but follows most of the original enclosed course which then was point to point from the Zoo Parking lot to Point State Park where the Great Race finishes. This was the course the 88 Women's trials followed. the 2000 Men's trials was basically out and back starting at the city county bldg and finishing at the Point. The 2001-2002 races have been out and back from Heinz Field Parking Lots to the warning track of the Football Field. Go Steelers.

He ran 1:32 for the Seaside, FL half-marathon (about 7:00 pace), but only 48:16 for a the Peachtree 10k. Granted, Peachtree is crowded, but with a decent starting number he shouldn't have slowed down by a minute when going half the distance.
"SF Plodder," they started asking questions about Martin Franklin almost immediately -- when the guy operating the USA champs had no idea who the 3rd guy across with a "USA" bib # was, they started to wonder ...

Final 5k = 12:22 and you thought the final 5k of the 10k at the Worlds was fast. I guess he has learned to cross all the chip mats now which costs him from finishing in the top 3.

Has anyone reported this guy/gone over to his house to kick his ass? Or are we just still talking about it? Just curious whether anybody received any feedback from race directors.

You will find tons of race results.....10K times over 50 minutes, then he suddenly pops a 3:03 thon.....yeah...right.......and most don't have intermediate chip times.
I looked, but couldn't find anything else on him non running related. It does look like he moved from MN to Georgia however...anyone out there know of this guy from those places?

Most of his results have his hometown as Atlanta GA or Duluth GA (not MN). So I am hoping he has never set foot inside Minnesota.
When I did the search one of the results that came up was the UPMC/Pittsburgh marathon from May 4, 2003.

The current US mens 50-54 age group record for the half marathon is 1:09:30 (Norm Green, Philadelphia, 1984)
Hell, the record for the 45-49 age group is 1:08:05 (Bill Rogers, Kansas City, 1993 (I'm ignoring the assisted 1:07:14))
What ticks me off is that a race official has posted on this thread several times (USATF Pgh), yet 4 months later this cheater is still listed in the results on at least 2 web sites.

Something for nothing. He gets the applause as he finishes, and he gets to strut around the office following a marathon while everyone is all impressed. Man, I'd rather finish a marathon in 5:07 (as I did once) than cheat like that.
Does anybody out there know who this guy is? Did anybody see him at the Chicago Marathon? He would have been the guy on 9:30 pace for the last 10k getting passed by everyone else doing 7:00 to 7:30.
The Atlanta Track Club has a 15 mile race on November 1. It is three loops around Stone Mountain. I thinking if he showed up and did 2 loops he could go home with an age group award. Come on down William!
