Just wanted to post my rage at walmart in response.
I always did my own oil but one day i was running late, it was raining, and the price at walmart was cheaper than buying my own oil and filter so I took it there. thinking "how could you f*** up an oil change if its your only job"
the indian, mechanic refused to lube the chasis as they said they would do in the price.
He then proceeded to fill my oil till it was half way up the dipstick (I found out later) and jammed a couple rags into my pan guard so I didnt notice the oil leaking after it busted out the oil pan gasket.
I of course found out when my driveway got a free oiling.
since my truck is a 4x4 it is a very expensive fix to get a new oilpan in or replace the gasket.
f*** those retarded apes at walmart.
This is a great thread. First of all to the original poster, you throw your problems out here then tell people to go "eat dick". Well you can f*** yourself friend. We're not the dumbass that took their car to a f***ing department store for repairs!
Don't ever buy tires there either. There's Goodyears and there's Wal-Mart Goodyears.
I also got a kick out of the car dealer getting on here like he's the f***ing knight in shining armor. You guys are some of the shiftiest bastards in business and I'm glad so many of you got run out of business over the past couple of years. You deserve it.
Oh Billy!!!!!

I unfortunately assumed even High School dropouts could change oil, I guess not.
Obviously YOU can't change oil.
What dealers do you go to that are only $5 - $15 more than Wal-Mart? Acura (fancy pants Honda) is 90 bucks. Some dealers do offer a cheaper oil change but it's so they can talk you into an alignment, flush your trans or something where they do cost more. Several years ago I had an Avalanche that was bouncing around and the dealer couldn't figure out what the problem was. After charging me for an alignment, balancing and rotating all my tires nothing worked. More diagnostics and we started talking about replacing struts or whatever is in the front end. I took it to a mexican tire store in the bad part of town that sells used tires. Balanced my tires for 30 bucks and all was fine.
Citgo Oil is on sale for .99/quart at the local Farm & Fleet. Fram Oil filters bought on sale at 2/$5. With tax I'm at less than $8 an oil change. I have three vehicles, two of which have over 200,000 miles and all run great. It usually takes me 20 minutes a change- but that includes 10+ minutes of just letting the oil drain completely. When I'm done, I know what was put into my engine and that everyting was tightened properly - a good feeling.
I believe this is extremely common not just at WalMart but at any quick oil change place. Most common mistake seems to involve cross-threading of drain plugs but there are other opportunities for error as the OP shows. I knew one guy who lost his engine because they put the filter & drain plug on, but forgot to put the oil in.
How much do the oil change shops pay? 7-10 bucks an hour according to wikianswers. Wal Mart is probably min wage. For that you're going to get kids, drunks, druggies, and retards. Change your own oil. To me it is more convenient to do it myself than to have to wait while someone does it for me. Taking your car to jiffy lube to change the oil is like paying someone to give you a shower every day.
