I predict that no American man will run a top 100 all time performance in any event from 10k to the marathon.
That said, American, Bernard Lagat, will get top 100 all time times in the 1500 and 5000 including his first sub 13.
Otherwise, same old.
The tone for the year is set at the World Cross. If we finish 13th or 12th or whatever like last year, we will again have pathetic results on the world stage.
gabe runs the 800m in 1:45 and makes moves in the 1500/mile races from various places after 700m but not necessarily the last 300m or 400m.

You sir are a dumbass. Lagat has already broken 13.
The Lagat comment was deserved, but I did mean sub 12:50---that is just hard to get used to writing now that 13:00 ain't that fast.
Is Lagat's 12:59 even in the top 100 all time?
I think Dan Lincoln is one of the most exciting prospects for the US.
I would like to see him in a race with Bernard Lagat earlier in the season. Lagat should be able to produce 12:54 and Lincoln should go 12:57.
Assuming Lincoln leads and helps Lagat?
The 5000 national race should be exciting this year. My only fear is that Lagat sees a weaker Rachid Ramzi and hops back into the 1500...
I really think that Meb, Culpepper and Abdi are done running track.. the future is Dathan Rhitzenhiem Webb and the kid who ran 28minutes in Australia..this month.. Forgot his name.
I hope the US sends a strong team to the cross country champs because Ethiopia and Kenya have a weaker team this year. I believe Eritrea will win the team title.
Can't chicks see into the future? C'mon ladies how about some preditions for the US women.
Women's predictions for 2007:
1. Women's sports will continue to be boring
2. Letsrun will require all posts about women's running to be accompanied by links with photos.
lagats 5k time is 55th all time, kennedys 5k is 47th all time , lincolns steeple is 44th all time, kastors marathon is 4th all time, khanouchi's marathon is 3rd all time, mebs 10k is 50th all time, there are only 94 men at 20759 or faster for the marathon, so if a usa man breaks 20759 during a spring marathon he likely will be top 100 all time, the usa will have lots of runners make the all time top 100 performers list this year and probably every year.
my mistake you said top 100 performance, not performer, right now the 100th best marathon performance is 20735 and will undoubtably get faster in april with london, rotterdam, paris, hamburg, boston and others, the 100th fastest performance for 10k is 2712, 1 second faster than the american record, abdi says he wants to bring the american record under 27 minutes, so there is a chance.
We all know now it is impossible to predict the erratic Alan Webb. It is easy to see Lukezic run at least 3:33. Webb could be anywhere in the 3:29 to 3:35 range.
I wonder if Myers will get back on track. That 3:53 mile he ran in London will be three years old this summer.
I can't believe this late-December 2006 thread about predictions for 2007 never got revisited. Check out these predictions! Kudos to the poster who predicted Sell & Ritz would break out in the marathon.
Break out ? They did no such thing , neither were world ranked. They ran marathons , made a oly team , but breakout ???
