scotth, I'd give Minty full credit for being at least 100m behind if he started out DFL. As you will recall, in that race there were two 90 degree turns at the start of that race and a bottleneck at each of them. A very impressive run for Minty to get out of that predicament.

malmo, I don't recall the exact distance behind, but I recall feeling anxious when I turned around & saw how far away everybody was. You know how time expands when bad stuff happens...time was distorted for a few seconds there and the next couple minutes were a blur. I figured 50m because it's hard to believe we were sorting things out at the start longer than about 8-9 seconds.
I believe one of the WKU guys (TStaynings?) got DQ'd because he inadvertently cut inside one of those 90 degree flagpost turns near the start. They were hard to see and caused a bottleneck that cost GMinty valuable time to catch up.
Somebody asked about a pic...will see what I can find. Gordon had and still has one of those 'Beatle-type' haircuts and is around 6-2. He developed a heart condition a few years back that prevents him from doing anything, like climbing a couple flights of stairs quickly, that raises his heartrate above a certain level. Tough medicine for such a nice guy and strong runner.
