Well said. My financials line up with yours, except I live in a very HCOL area and my wife has a similar income. My wife and I each have a younger sibling who is extremely troubled despite being a full-fledged adult. Both of our siblings are super dependent on our parents, despite being 24 and 27. Neither of us want to be responsible for a child like that.
Sure, my wife and I could have babies, or we could continue to enjoy life comfortably and have ample time / money for our hobbies and each other. DINK (Dual Income No Kids) seems like the best strategy to retire early and be happy.
We also don't feel particularly great about the current political climate. It doesn't seem like a great time to introduce a small human into the mix.
My parents were also from this HCOL area, btw. Despite only having one income (my mother was a STAH mom), they were able to afford a house lol. That's laughable for us despite working consistently after graduating college, paying off our loans ASAP. We did everything right except be born into wealth or a LCOL area.
