Bloudek really worked to make sure Cooper never passed him
True, but it looked like Cooper ran really smart. It appeared like he tried to pass him after 400, but Bloudek sped up and I think that Cooper realized there was no need to expend the energy. I don't think I've ever seen a high schooler make running a 1:46 in the 800 look so easy.

Bloudek really ran the heat more like a final than Lutkenhaus
Think this was good judgment by Lutkenhaus (to treat it like a heat) given his positioning, and that 1:46 is super easy. But he probably does not want to be so bossed around in the semis and final as that could be dangerous

Results confirmed. Tobias DQ for lane infringement
Just watched the race. Tobias had to make some pretty rash moves to get in position, but I just didn't see it have enough impact on the other racers to warrant a DQ. It's a shame. She looked like she had all kinds of extra energy at the end. I'd like to see what she might have been capable of in later rounds. Not a medal contender, but probably in PB shape.

AFAIK this mean she was DQed for cutting in incorrectly, not jostling or cutting off other runners. Will have to rewatch but I was concerned she stepped on the line on the second turn. I thought she was clean if feisty throughout.
Good value here. Official tshirts at the arena under 5 dollars. Hoodies under 10 dollars
I was stationed in Poland for a year about a decade ago. At the time, I think the exchange rate was about 4 to 1 (i.e., something that cost $100 in the US was about $25 in Poland).

Coopers heat is tricky unless Kibet runs as he did today. Attaoui is going to finish crazily which means if Cooper sits on the early pace he better be ready to not only get by Kibet/Wyderka but keep his eyes open for Moula/Attaoui. For his benefit, he ran easier than just about all of those guys. The Attaoui unleash the last 150 strategy looks good but realistically it is an energy-waster through the rounds IMO. Great spot for Dolan too. Run smart and pip everyone for 2nd behind Crestan. Heat 1 is a mess, too many evenly matched dudes and nobody to string it out.
For Wiley her key focus is saving up for the last 50, Coiro and Wielgosz are outstanding kickers who leave it late. If Im a Boffey fan I hate that draw, too many capable kickers/tacticians with no front runner. H3 will be interesting because Getachew loves leading, Werro would be smart to decisively pass her mid-way and not look back.
Anyone know why Australia barely sent anyone on the men's side? Good shot for some of them to compete in 60m/400m. Also GB in the 400m could've competed to at least make the final.

Wiley has a tough semi. Three of out six heat winners, the fastest runner of the day (Coiro), and, of course, the world record holder. Wiley has beaten Coiro both times they have raced and beat Wielgosz by 3 seconds in their only race. I think Coiro and Wielgosz went to the well in their heat, so who knows what they have left for tomorrow.
Still, with Keely in the heat, it is basically five runners fighting for only one spot in the final.
