I run the Bolder Boulder 10k most years. There has been exactly one year I didn't get beaten by any women. That felt pretty great, but it had a lot more to do with the 2 minute course PR than my position relative to the ladies.

I am 37 years old and have never lost to a girl/woman in any kind of foot race in my life. There are women in the world who are faster than me, sure, but I have never finished behind a female in any race ever.

What if the slowest woman you can beat you is somewhere in the wide gulf between WR holder and Oprah?

At the state level, maybe the top 1 or two girls could have beaten me up to 200m. At 200-400m though I would have outran any woman in NJ in 2009.

Good female friend of mine (sub 2:30 marathoner) told me she was passed by a man sprinting by her at the 2/3 mark of a half marathon. Less than a mile later she passed him while he was walking and literally sobbing and cursing himself for losing to woman.

From 800 to the mile I still have some daylight between my PRs and the women's WR (although give it 20 years and that probably changes).

I have lost to women in road races when I was quite young. If I ever entered a road race again, I would surely lose to many women.

This always gives me a chuckle!

Has there ever been any mixed set up races...kinda like the sabalenka vs kyrgios tennis match? Watching some workout youtubes and thought would like to see Hocker vs. SML race a 400.

Anyone remember Katelyn Bastert from west central Illinois? She won a bunch of state championships and I think was top 10 at Foot Locker a time or two. She ended up going to Duke where I believe her running career was curtailed by injuries.

Anyway, I attended high school near her, so ran at a lot of the same cross country meets as her. I never directly raced against her, but it was always my goal to run faster than she did at each cross country meet. It didn't always happen.

I did a parkrun last year in about 17:4x and she ran 17:3x and when she got back into fitness went to 16:3x but she was good and much more experienced than me. Think she ran a 2:3x marathon.
