Belen really needed to prove something at Great American. They finished 5th. I don’t see how the committee can justify an at large selection.
At the Florida Prestate meet they won and put top 5 guys 170+ speed rating. If they can keep it up it’s going to give them a case for NXN
It’s going to be interesting to see if one of the Midwest or northwest teams can make it, I would take Mead over Noblesville because their 5th man is too far back

Yeah, you are right. They are going to pass on Marcelo Mantecon at their meet, and a Nike Coach that they work with in Miami for some average team out of the ?
Belen is coming as long as they win the Florida state meet.
If Marcello cares about NXN so much, skip state and run NXR. Nike will cheapen their whole meet by letting a team who finished 5th at an invitational in. JMO
It's not that it's too close is the same damn day you idiot! NIKE dropped the ball.
With that said Belen is not deserving this year.
the nike meet didn't move. It's been the saturday before thanksgiving since at least the covid break. Florida is the one that moves the state meet to a different weekend every year.
Florida has moved their meet around several times over the years.
Nike showed that they are willing to move their meet in other regions to other locations, days, etc.....why couldn't the NXR SE be moved to Sunday or Monday like other regions....YES Nike dropped the ball....they were aware of the issue months ago and chose to do nothing therefore left out the 3rd most populated state from participating at their meet.....financial L for them as well!

i dont know why, maybe there is an issue with the site on other days, or issue with hotels or flight schedules. Could be anything. With the soccer park there i'm sure they have some dates blocked off to host potential games.
I was just saying even if nike hadn't announced the actual date of the NXR this year, the people planning florida's state meets would have known what date it was going to be and still moved their state meet to that day anyways. I've never known a state to be so inconsistent on the date of their state meet.
Being from the NW I'm biased, but I would think losing to an autoqualifier by 1 should factor in.
Last year, Bridgeland girls team missed second place at NXR South by 1 point and they didn’t get an at large bid
That is south, NW is objectively better. The south girls placed 14th and 22nd at nationals last year NW boys were 9th and 16th. The latter of which is now a top 5 team in the nation. I think the Mead boys have a good shot, especially if belen isn't given an at large. If nike cares that much just send Marcelo individually I wouldn't care; he's the top returning sophomore by a significant margin. They would get more backlash from sending the whole team as opposed to just him.

happened last year to Webb School girls in the Southeast. Finished 3rd at NXR SE, 1 point behind 2nd and 8 points behind 1st. Those two teams ended up 12th and 13th at nationals and Webb School didn't go.
So it sounds like the selection committee made a good pick. What place did the at-large selections place?

Sure i wasn't saying they should have gotten in, i was just saying there is precedent for a team only missing an AQ by 1 point not going if the rest of the resume isn't good enough.
At larges were 2nd (Lone Peak), 8th (Fossil Ridge), 15th (Carmel) 16th (JSerra). Maybe they could have been competitive with Carmel and JSerra, maybe not. But they likely wouldn't have been better than say a 3rd from the SW.
Are the SW locked 2 spots to NXN, or will they only not get two if a big favorite like, CBA, Carroll, Christ school gets third?
Yeah I'd say Christ school is going to NXN no matter what, if they finish 1-3. JMO
Recent history has shown the SW has made the best of their at-large bids and based of that probably deserves 2 at-larges. If they do get 2, my belief is they would both (boys and girls) finish 15-20 at worst. I am biased but I think SW should get 2 each.
My prediction: Girls will get 2. Teams 3-8 all are ranked in top 30
Boys If the 4the team is Riverton - yes because they've shown I past they belong. If Coronado - Probably because they have a potential nxn winner on team. If it is Westlake, Erie, Lehi, Castleview I would say no because they have never been and don't have the name recognition. Boulder is a Maybe?? because of Woodbridge.
I think it will be 2 Southwest, 1 Midwest, and 1 Northwest.
Southeast will probably get one if Broughton gets second and McCallie gets third, since Broughton beat McCallie earlier this year
I think the southeast will get one pretty much no matter what. If it goes as projected Belen will get one, if Broughton qualifies then either CS or McCallie will get Belen’s bid.
Problem is the last 2 years California has had at large teams underperform at NXN, the only way they are secured is 3rd place is 20 points off Jesuit. If the third place teams do not impress they definitely have a shot though
Unrelated but what happened to Matilda Torres, they were ranked top 15 in the nation but didn’t have struggled all year
If Jesuit CA gets 1st and Campolindo ends up getting 2nd or 3rd in the merge, I can see California not getting an at-large boys team because Campolindo hasn’t raced any other CA teams that have a shot at NXN.

2 of their top 5 (Hannah and Ramirez) haven’t improved much from last year.
And because of that and their lack of depth, they have a big 4-5 gap on the team.
Hannah has been their #1 or 2 runner for years in the past, but this year (his senior year), he has been their #3 runner in many meets, including today
Yeah I'd say Christ school is going to NXN no matter what, if they finish 1-3. JMO

I don’t see Riverton getting top 4 this year. Their best runner is entered in the open race. Tough break. At least they have a young team this year and made it back in 2023
