USATF releases it's 2024 financials - Record revenue ($44.5 million) , but still lost $1 million+ on year

Big Bad Phil Knight reliving he college daze and Black Booty chaser Alexis Ohanian is what you hear from coaches. It's blown way over the top. Amateur little orgs accounts for less than 1% of the revenues. 99% is by NBC Sports Hollywood and IOC Lausanne. It takes many dozens of Billionaires focued at the same location to have a Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, Las Vegas Raiders make a profit. Not two Billionaires 3,000 miles apart.

Yeah, it’s almost as if signing a 26-year extension that didn’t account for inflation was a bad idea. Oh well, at least we only have to put up with it for 15 more years.

In 1978 when the Steven's Sport Act was passed, Hollywood had open. transparent, revenue sharing for NFL, MLB, NBA based on Motion Picture, Recording, Television industry norms. The money was very modest compared to Shohei, LeBron, Luca, Yoshinobu levels today. Revenue sharing didn't carry over to the Steven's charities at all. We still have no transparency, secret Nike backroom deals, closed Zoom planning sessions. We have no standards for venue requirements, venue internal parking capacity, minimum permanet seats, minimum urinals & toilets, open access to elevators, etc.

This confirms everything I thought was true is true.

1) They basically have no sponsors that move the needle.

The whole thing is Nike.

Everything else adds up to like $1.2 million and yet we are paying the CEO over $3 million some years? It's crazy. And all that CEO did is pay a bunch of ex-Nike employees millions of dollars to negotiate a 20-year no-bid deal with Nike. Yes, the shoe contract went up but it doesn't appear to have been indexed for inflation which is a big deal.

2) Speaking for inflation, if you factor in inflation, their revenue is down since 2016. $37.3 million in 2016 is $48.75 in 2024 and yet they only brought in 44.5 million.

Steven's '78 setup non-profits. If you want to have for-profit athletes, teams, organized leagues, then Hollywood should author new legislation to establish such. Preps, College, post-College aged can then join these clubs, teams, leagues with CEO specifically experienced at making profits and serving the interest shareholders. We don't have that now because Steven's '78 was not designed that way, understated?

Max and friends are looting the coffers. Everyone know it, but Max will be out front playing the race card if anyone ever bothers with a true investigation.

Every sponsor is like $250k and Nike is 20 million. That is interesting.

USATF put out a press release claiming that ~25% of their expenses in 2024 were from Worlds in 2022 and no one thought to fact check that?

From their press release:

"2024 also marks the final year of USATF’s investment in the 2022 World Athletics Championships. The commitment to the U.S.-based championship event held in Eugene, Oregon accounts for the largest expense on the 2024 report at more than $10 million. USATF paid $8 million in World Championship-related expenses in 2023."

You can see that $10 million is close to how much was paid for 2022 Worlds total, and most of that was paid in 2022, a point emphasize by a special note in the 2022 audited financials.

Best I can figure is the person writing the press release mixed up the lines for "World championships" and "Sports performance" because the latter is the next line and those numbers match what was in the press release.

Always great to see a company that is in the red solely due to the CEO's pay. Like, if he takes a paycut, they make money. Literally you pay your CEO to rob your company.

Max's & Seb's biggest mistake was not investing in WC22 which was perfectly rational.

Rather it was not endorsing HF for LA28 T&F events

PK sees that as a betrayal after 20 years of supporting USATF, WA, DL.

PK tried finally to trade the LA28 M&W 10K with Mt Sac. But Mt Sac never had the 10K to begin with and laughed it off to senility and marijuana addiction. USC makes all the venue decisions and ignores amusing brown nosers. The only peehole towns USC picked to host LA28 medal events is Stanford and Oklahoma City. This pissed PK moreso.

Now you see why PK sabotaged WC22 his own dream since he was a UO student, to payback Max and Seb.

If it weren't for Max's bloated salary, USATF would have turned a profit.

That's what I get out of this: Max is the difference between USATF being financially sustainable and not. And remember, these are financial results from a GOOD year.

They’ve are just exceptionally good at maintaining their non-profit status.

We've known all along it's everyone for themselves.
