I guess haters are always gonna hate. Sad that Sadie has haters
I mean yeah she raced hard in June and July but Engelhardt has raced 3 6k's since August 9th. How much of a break do you think she needs? Hartman and Napoleon were both training very hard all summer too. Gapes was working her way back to fitness all summer to prep for NZ XC Championships. There will be people rested at regionals for NC State, but Engelhardt is probably 4th or 5th on my list of people who look like they need it.
Your thoughts on the matter as to what is an appropriate racing volume for NC State’s critical 5th are absolutely irrelevant to what she will or won’t be doing at Regionals.
Don’t get me wrong. Sadie has done a great job this season. I have absolutely been impressed with her. She’s a stud. I also expect her to get better.
She competed a lot in the track before arriving in Raleigh. Henes can afford to rest her for the regional meet and I think she should. Too often young women race too much and it ends up adversely affecting them. I don’t want to see the same happen to Sadie. She’s too important to the team.

No, people are downvoting you, not Sadie.
You claim she is 'very tired' but don't actually cite an interview or an article (or even a social media post) indicating she has said that. So you have absolutely no idea how she is feeling, you're just making things up.
The Oregon team is STACKED up front, however they were also pretty stacked in XC in '23 & '24 and in track in '24 & '25. Ayyildiz and Elmore were some of the top runners leading up to national meets, but couldn't bring it on the big day.
I wouldn't say they 'choke,' I would say that their coaches haven't figured out how to effectively peak them at the right time just yet. Hoping this is the year they figure it out; OR vs BYU vs NC State will be exciting to watch unfold.

Elmore and Aayildiz (13/25) did ok and were not ORs problem last year. Their problem was 4-7 were 100/104/127/159). I don't think peaking was their issue but rather they just did not get out fast enough (or the milers were afraid to get out fast). At 1K they were 30/61/68/78/95/98/139.

So 4-7 faded from 1k to 6k, but you think they should have got out faster? Interesting analysis?

Shalane was quoted after the race that they did not get out fast enough.

Sorry I meant to say I thought the backend needed to stay within reach and front 3 would create the gap. If Thompson runs her usual race as a fifth scorer they might have even won the 4,5 battle against NC state. They won the battle against BYU. Barnett the 6th runner was the 5th who did better than 185th last year. I don’t think I’ve ever seen according to tffrs one race she’s run a 5k. Thompson was 32nd at nationals last year slightly off but respectable at 68th., Frias did great as fourth runner. Cheribet (36th) was 14th last year had an off day. Their young Kenyan star only 18 years old projected 9th was 31st just needs another year under her belt. Ayyilidiz was solid. Still, not sure if they finished 10th and 15th up top they would have had the points. Maybe. But could’ve, should’ve isn’t the sport. They needed things to perfect didn’t have the margin of error.
