Steroid and designer PED creator turned anti-doping advocate has passed.
What people fail to know is that Victor Conte was not a steroid pusher. Yes, he "designed" steroids for some of the world's greatest (cheater) athletes which included Barry Bonds, CJ Hunter, Tim Montgomery, Regina Jacobs, and Marion Jones. What is not known is that these athletes (and many others) approached Victor, and asked him to create an undetectable steroid (The Cream) that would level the playing field in track so as they could be competitive in a steroid riddled era for their events. Regina was the only known middle distance runner to be on "The Cream" and other PED's provided by Victor. Victor's primary product SNAC-ZMA which was a legal and non PED mineral supplement program he discovered, as it proved to be a beneficial supplement. That being said, Victor's choice to partake in the world of illegal PED's tainted his reputation and rightfully so. He simply couldn't turn down the money from these world class athletes, of which Barry Bonds was known to pay a HUGE amount of money. A little known fact about Victor, he was one of the pioneers of developing legal training supplements (SNAC) for body builders who wanted to be steroid-free. Kind of ironic that he ended up being the manufacturer of one of the best illegal PED's ever.
I assume that since you call "The Clear" , "The Cream", that everything else you wrote is also wrong.
But his earlier life in Tower of Power had a very tight horn section. So a mixed review.
The first time I heard Tower of Power live, he was the bassist - I remember because he was the brother of my favorite guitarist who was ever in the group, Bruce Conte. Years later, when I read that Victor was involved in PEDs for athletes, I was quite surprised. I'm amused that someone else on Letsrun knows about the ToP connection!
I don’t know if ZMA is a scam or not but I use it. I take it about 30 minutes before bed and I sleep like a rock. It does cause pretty vivid dreams which I really don’t mind. I also think it helps with muscle soreness and it boosts immunity. I have not idea if it boosts the production of testosterone as it claims to.
Conte's death sent me down the rabbit hole reading about The Clear otherwise known as THG (Tetrahydrogestrinone). I had no idea how much more powerful THG is than injectable testosterone - up to 20x more potent for muscle building, hence the name Baby Tren.
No wonder a baseball bat looked like a toothpick in Mark McGwire's meat hands.
Couple drops under the tongue or topical of course. But the side effects sounded brutal

Conte really wasn't that knowledgeable. He had the gift of the salesman. He took a bunch of world class athletes and gave them THG, a designer steroid that was terrible for power to weight ratio. If you look at the improvements, they were generally in muscle size, not performance. Many athletes ruined their careers for nothing, while he continued his relentless pursuit for fame and notoriety. I've seen some extremely sophisticated drug programs over the years. This certainly wasn't one of them.

Not effective for performance?! Marion Jones and Barry Bonds beg to differ

Jones started working with Conte before the 2000 Olympics. That year, she ran 10.75. She ran that time in 1998, and on 7 occasions between 1997 and 1998 ran faster.
Bonds has nothing to do with track. What does baseball have to do with power to weight ratio.

Nice try. 'The Clear' was THG; 'The Cream' was testosterone. They used both.
He sincerely regretted his actions and has been arguably one of the most influential anti doping figures. He focused on boxing most recently to help testers catch cheats. Because he beat the testers in the 2000s. If you would listen to him speak, you would be aware that he’s not a POS, and regrets his actions.

this comment is smart stupid.
epo hgh and test are the main full meal deal peds. that get you sub 9.8m and lady 4 min miler and flo jo heat attack.
literally all the world revords are off this crude protocol, or somewhat refined, which Conte was a student of. and practitioner.
true you dobt need to be a rocket scientist here.
today, it is not clear that the fancy protocols are better. i do think the better body builders, some know what they are doing... these oeople are the most honest of sportsmen,

He didn't design the peds he had a biochemist working with him who did the designing.
