That is funny! But truthfully, I usually say "hang in there" to anyone that I pass. I will also add that about 3 of the runners that I passed were REALLY going in reverse and I'd guess that they were 2:20 pace and blew up big-time. I said "hang in there" to one of them and got what I would describe as the "F you"" look as he clearly wasn't happy running that slow with less than a mile to go----it looked quite painful.
Ya shoulda said NYA NYA NA NYA NAA YOU WENT OFF TOO FAST!
Broke 2:30....finally. Great weather, could not be better conditions. Crowds are insane!
#1 Tip Be patient and run the 2nd half faster, fun to pass those who went out way too hard.
Running the 2nd half faster is rare
Sorry, but not if you don't go out above your ability. I wasn't hanging on the last 10k, I was still racing. But I was extremely patient and ran steadily for the first half. Most get carried away with the crowds and candidly, I caught many of those in the last 6 miles. I raced that way a couple years ago and it rarely turned out well.
I think it would be VERY challenging for anyone to negative split NYC on their first try. The first half of the course is quite easy and even if you are being very honest its easy to get sucked in to thinking you are having a good day. Even if someone was very disciplined and managed to negative split it on their first try I would argue they probably left time on the table.
Much more doable on a second or third try in my opinion.
My goal time was 2:25 but ended up running 2:32. My legs cramped up going into the Bronx so i had to jog it in. The course and the crowds were both great and we had perfect weather. I wore the Puma Fastr Nitro Elite 3. #1 tip stay focused on your race there are tons of distractions with everything going on in this city.
Did you get a condescending "hang in there" and ass slap about a mile from the finish?
25 yrs go muslim terrorists wiped out 3000 and the World Trade Center, now a communist socialist islamicist might be mayor? a person who has never worked at a real job and has never been in charge of anything?
Twenty-five years ago, Bill Clinton was still POTUS and the WTC was still standing.
Given that you got that wrong, I can't give a lot of weight to your opinion on anything else.
