people act like running a marathon is some monumental achievement but honestly it’s not impressive or tough to do. It’s just going to be hard to recover from so running marathons isn’t the smartest thing to do if you have impressive fitness goals your trying to achieve (because running a marathon isn’t an impressive fitness goal).
and don’t get me started on WALKING a marathon, which even some people who are massive and out of shape could do
I was talking to a fellow yesterday. He said he was the last person to finish the marathon over 10 years ago. He did it like 3 years. He said he didn't train for them. Just some walking. I think he was doing it for the charity. Raising money for charity was important to him.
Then I see people in costumes on course. There were a couple of guys dressed in daffy duck pajamas. After 4 hours is when things really fall off. The most respectable runners are the ones with silver hair. They're the real competitors. They take it seriously. Saw at least a dozen of them under at least under 4 hours pace.
