WTF??? No ex pro cyclist should have a stride that looks like that
i don’t know how good he was at running before he turned to cycling, but he ran his first sub 30min 10km in the spring (29:55).
Now, after a summer of injuries, he runs a 61:37 HM??? So basically 2x10km in 29:10 and then add 1.1km at the same pace after that. Furthermore, he did not have an elite entry, so he ran from the line behind the elites. Not sure if 61:37 is his chip time or official time. It probably took him 5 seconds or so to get to the starting line, then he had to navigate his way through the elites.
He is doing this triathlon conversion like a complete amateur. In his first triathlon (Feb or March), he had shoe laces instead of elastics on his shoes. he ran with bib shorts and a cycling shirt. He has a good TT bike, but it’s an ITU bike.
In Geelong, in T1, it took him 1 minute longer than anybody else in transition and he lost a further 30 seconds in T2. He has/had no clue of what he is doing.
So you have an ex pro cyclist, who runs like that and trains for the triathlon like a complete amateur with seemingly no support.
Here what needs to happen. Greg Harper is trying to get his swim coaching career going. Greg, call this guy and bring him from a 28 minute swimmer to a sub 25 minute swimmer. Once that’s done, Jimmy, call Hayden Wilde and go train with him. He’s basically the only triathlete that could maybe run with you and bike with you. Hayden trains like a real pro, which is what you also need to do.
Then get proper sponsorship. Get a tri bike which looks like Sam Laidlow’s…
As the Norwegians are trying to figure out if 10,000 micro holes on their Tri suit is faster than 9,000 micro holes, Jimmy is trying to figure out how to take off his wet suit…
The Norwegians saw your running video. They are petrified.
Jimmy is running the Zatopec 10km in November. He should go sub 28!!!
