Kipkemoi is a 2:04:00 (Tokyo 2025) guy but you're right, probably doesn't have the wheels for today's job. His 10k road pr is only 27:58. I have seen him before in a lot of other Spanish races, so he was probably a familiar and easy pick for the race organizers.

certainly more for the American interest here - isn't Ahmed Muhumed sticking with the Almgren/Euro Record pack now? If he holds through with them the American record could be in danger too?
