I think shorter penalties should occur only if they are willing to blow the lid on the situation.

WHO provided you with the drugs?

Did your COACH know you were using, or worse, did your coach ASSIST you in your drug cycling?

Was your AGENT involved?

Who PAID for the drugs, if not you?

WHAT drugs were you taking (not just the one you tested positive for, ALL of them)?

WHEN did you start taking the drugs? (Ban should NOT be extended back to this date to promote honesty)

If you have been taking drugs and beating drug tests for years, HOW did you cycle the drugs or what masking agents did you use to accomplish this?

FULL honesty = a lesser sentence; if they won't throw guilty people under the bus then they should get a full-length ban.

That's not the proper way to think about it. If Ruth wasn't in the race, going out crazy fast in both races, the rest of the race goes totally differently.

Maybe Sisson could have won in 2022 (when she an 2:18) but do we really think a 2:24 Emma Bates would have won in 2023? I know it was warm and the field was shallow, but it would be a totally different race.

Now I will say the first instance of an anti-doping violation should start retroactive stripping of medals/times. This came up during Katirs whereabouts/tampering thing and Nasers too. The first missed test/incriminating moment should start the punishment. They have that for ABP violations (which are hard to prove) yet don’t for objective stuff like this or missed tests. More deterrence not less due to some bizarre standard of fairness.

I think that once an athlete is caught doping or admits to doping, their entire competitive career should be stricken from the record. Damnatio memoriae.

Chicago’s Race Director should delete her performance from the archives. Don’t recognize it. If not, this nonsense will continue to happen. She gets to keep all of her earnings and the record.....which is DAF. Any who is caught should have all records removed period.

I got the years wrong, but my point stands that they were runner-ups in Chicago to Ruth, and we truthfully don’t know when Ruth started doping so to a lot of us, it casts a shadow on all of her performances.

In 2021 it was warm and Ruth beat Emma by less than 2 mins in 2:22. Perhaps a clean performance. In 2022 she won in 2:14 to Sisson’s 2:18. The 2:14 at the time was 2nd fastest in history and 3 minute PR- I doubt it was clean.
