Will she go pro after outdoor season? Idk if there is a way, but would be neat to see her run 4 years at BYU
No reason to go pro anymore. She can make a ton of money in NIL and still compete for BYU. I highly doubt we see her leave early. Students who go to BYU generally go there for more than just athletics and academics. I expect she will compete all four years.
Nice to see another Rohat on the BYU traveling team…

Well what’s she gonna do if she goes pro? Surely she’d run for Taylor in Provo since she’s Swoosh TC. Wasn’t that like, the whole point of getting the BYU coach to coach a Nike group? I’m sure she could get Nike to pay her all she’d get paid for from NIL, plus all college expenses, plus performance bonuses. Now I imagine she has a scholarship (idk her NIL status, id think she has something).
She could still go to BYU, train under the same coach with the same facilities, and maybe get paid a bit more. I think the only real difference would be who she gets to train with. She’s already by far the best on the team. I imagine the team culture is way better on the actual college team, so I think she’ll probably stay at least 3 years. She might wanna take a chance on herself for the Olympics though and go pro to train more seriously.

The only reason to go pro these days is to lock in a big 6-10 year contract at $500k to $1 m, annually.
Or if you want to run purely the Diamond League and US pro schedule.
BYU or pro? She can still have same coach and training.
Money for Jane not going to go away in next 14 months, plus so far she still has 0 ncaa titles.
Let's see how xc and calendar year 2026 goes. There will probably be a 'right moment' for a pro deal leading up to 2028 Olympics.

These days with NIL there's not much of a reason to go pro early. Unless you're dominating everyone. With the school she can get a full scholarship, all meals covered, housing covered, etc... And make money from NIL.
Agree. The only difference is accepting prize money and T&F prize money is pretty pathetic unless you're top 3 in a Diamond League event.
I mentioned a few months past it seemed like a wise choice to go to BYU. I was surprised at the downvotes I received.
Great coach, great environment with a lot of the typical social distractions absent, and close to home for her meaning a minimum of transition issues.
Coach Taylor has the unenviable job of keeping her from being injured. This too is an obvious statement. She is a great coach by any measure and kudos to Ed Eyestone for bringing on a great coaching talent. I suspect this is only the beginning for Ms Hedengren. My surprise is not that she ran well, but that she ran so well in a first race.
For clarity, BYU and Mormons are not my cup of tea. But I respect their achievements and if it works for them more power to them.
Aaaaand why am I supposed to care? Sure Jane can win against sub par talent, but so can anyone who actually tries. Put Jakob in that race and he’d mop the floor with her.
Jane Hedengren's success is the result of amazing talent that was coached absolutely perfectly starting in middle school, rather than the typical awful coaching until college (and many are poorly coached there too). So she actually developed during critical development years rather than wasting them.
If there were more competent coaches in high school and middle school, JH would still be amazing but would probably have some company nearby on the record lists.
Since Jane is basically living in the exact same place and environment where she had her success, I predict that, barring major injuries, JH will demolish the NCAA records, win some titles, then go pro and be the top US runner at 5000/10000 in LA 2028.
