I really should not be critical given how successful Graham has been, but my gut reaction to hearing the training Gibby has Blanks doing is always that he could be much better in a setup that trained smarter. It must work well enough, but if this system was so good shouldn’t Harvard be able to at least eke out an Ivy League title?

I also don't consider Gibby's training to be ideal for most runners (although maybe it is the best system for Blanks, certainly the 6:00 pace easy runs are not too difficult for him). But I think Harvard has been successful given the level of talent they get, the more likely reason Princeton beats them is Princeton gets more/better recruits.

Hes had a an incredible amount of success under Gibby and I think the logic to stay with him was; this was his first year as a professional and not make too many drastic changes. Professional running is different from the NCAA on so many levels. I’m sure he will figure out the best path but I would say it’s been a really good first 5 months as a professional. Made the World team in the 10k,ran 12:48, finished third in Paris Diamond League, ran 7:29 and got a ton of experience that he will use moving forward as a pro.

Oh for sure. If i were him I’d have stuck with Gibby as well. He’s run very well
