They all live within an hour and are from the region
which means they all actively made the choice every year prior that they didn't want to attend that school. It was always an option they just didn't want to do it. Then all collectively decided at the same time to make the same decision.
Either Christ School is giving them a considerable scholarship for boarding or all of these kids or their parents are driving 30-60 minutes each way every day to go to school just for running.
But they would definitely try to recruit Jesus and throw a Greenies singlet on him if he is a fast enough to help secure their chances of going to NXN. They will even pay the $50k+ tuition. But maybe it isnt recruiting if the school is named after him :)
alot of private schools do this same with calvert hall who were a distant second at the va xc showcase on saturday. They get kids from around an hour away at most but they can't seem to be as good as christ school.
The coach is clueless. He gives them pushups for being off pace on a rep, and then complains when they run the next rep too fast? And he wasn’t holding a watch on the slow rep and didn’t tell them to adjust the pace? His demeanor is why they messed up half the workout.
i dont care that they are a private school. I care that they brought in 5 of the best boys from within an hours drive as transfers all at once. I'll be rooting against them at NXR SE. I'd rather no NC teams go to NXN than have Christ School go.
I agree. Would be nice to see McCallie finally make it this year. Last few years they were close but never quite got there. They have 6 seniors on the team now, so it seems like this is their last chance unless they get plenty of transfers at the same time in the future.
Sure, McCallie has a couple of transfers that came in at separate years, but I’ve never seen a team that brought in like 6 new transfers during the same season. I think maybe Loudoun Valley might have, but some of those guys didn’t make their top 7 right away or ever
McCallie recruits. My daughters high school (public) just lost their #1 boy, who is now McCallies #1, and he is very good.

McCallie also has a guy who transferred in from a Georgia school a couple of years ago.
But I don’t think they have 9 transfers in their top 10 like CS does.
Agreed! They just assembled a team of upperclassmen so that could go to NXN. Last year (before they recruited all of their athletes) they were NINTH at the State Meet...and it was just the private school association state meet. I haven't seen any HS team ever be so pathetically desperate to win that they replace basically their whole lineup with transfers
I just hope we get the real story eventually. Odd that, that many kids transfer in at the same time. Maybe Coach had been privately coaching them prior or maybe their top guy reached out to some other kids. Some of the schools these kids came from were equally as good before they left.

9th and 4 of those guys didn’t come back this year

Could be that this is his first time coaching a team that has a shot at making NXN, so he’s probably been trying to figure out the workouts that would help them get there
