Awesome and Classy video about the greatest hs runner of all time, male or female! Trust the process Jane. You are competing in a much bigger pond now. Unlike many, you chose to stay in a familiar environment for your college years. Just have faith in coach Taylor that she will lead you to the collegiate champion 🏆 that God destined you to be.
I loved that video because it was inspiring and reminded me that this website is one of the few places online where we celebrate female athletic achievements.
But I also had a really cynical take: I wonder if she'll ever get good enough to be acused of doping here? If you are reading this Jane, congrats! You have finally made it!
For sure. I would not have seen the video if it not for LR, but then, there's the message board. If she finds her way onto this thread, hopefully she sees this community for what it is, and moves on quickly. She's got a lot of cooler things to think about.
Ive always been a huge believer in the old saying- the only stupid question is the one thats not asked- so I think your question deserves a valid response.
Trusting the process means many things, but it MAINLY means having faith in the training plan and long term goal that your coach lays out for you. An example of someone who does not do this would be someone who maybe bickers alot with their coach, doesn't improve, starts seeing no point in doing certain workouts, and ultimately considers transferring elsewhere.
Coach Taylor has Jane on a "5 year plan". That plan is her detailed vision of what Jane should be looking like each season, what her prs for that season are, and somewhere in there includes discussions of making the 2028 Olympic team in the event that both athlete and coach agree upon is in her best interest.
Conversations about Diljeet being Jane's professional level coach, if and when that day comes, have most likely NOT occurred yet. Nor should they. Their focus right now is a championship for BYU. A individual title for Jane is also desired, and is seen as icing on the cake.
As mentioned earlier, Jane had a choice of where to attend college. She could have chose anywhere in the nation. Don't tell me she didnt atleast learn about other schools or coaches, because she definately did. Now, are there perks to living close to home and being able to see mom and dad on the weekends? Sure. But that's not why she stayed in provo. She stayed in provo because she was convinced, after speaking coach Taylor, that she us the best choice for Jane's physiological DEVELOPMENT. Even amongst social pressure, that requires faith on Jane's behalf. That requires belief on Jane's behalf. That requires trust on Jane's behalf. It also requires a risk vs success ratio. There are young ladies on that team who came from different parts of the world. Flat areas. Some may have never even seen a mountain before. They've had to adapt to significant changes. All that Jane has had to adapt to are pace and training differentials. Her environment is the same as its been her entire life.
Ill tell you right now, theres not a single person in that town who wants Jane to fail. Everyone wants her to succeed. BYU does not have the inner-team politics of girls gating each other just because they are fighting for a spot on the starting line. They all represent white and blue, and they all want nothing but gold for Jane.
Now, once you wander off and predicate into other foreign jurisdictions that have a distance powerhouse, like Raleigh NC or Stanford ca, all of that notion changes. You do start to see people who dislike Jane and want her to fail. You also see teams filled with young ladies who hate each other and are at each other's throats for team status and positioning. Call it a lack of religion, lack of Mormon ideology, call it whatever you want. But that level of interpersonal team conflict simply fails to exist in Provo. I have a seasonal property in Park City and always attend the Sundance festival, so its convenient for me to observe and admire how mature and visionary the BYU runners are.
Thats what I meant what I said trust the process. It means staying patient and continuing on a steady path of what your coach has you doing. Even if the path gets bumpy, you stay on course with that path, because there is a small candlelight of hope and passion that burns inside you which believes your coach will ultimately lead you to a bigger REWARD than anyone else can.

BYU women racing OK State Cowboy Jamboree Friday . . . but no Jane.Likely means she's so good, no need to race her in September . . . or, she's injured.https://live.reddirtrunning.com/meets/57139/teams/1325370
I don’t have to read his posts to know they are junk, typically full of lies, and of no value to me. If I see one of his or Atmstronglivd posts, I will just typically downvote it, if so inclined.
She was Brooks PR Mile champ as a sophomore. The "massive progression" in your mind is just because you don't know much about her progression. Learn first, post second.
World athletics
4:38.5 in 2024, 4:23.5 in 2025
3000/2 mile: 9:24 3000 in 2023, 9:48 2 mi 2024, 8:40 / 9:17 in 2025
She’s a high schooler moron world athletics does not have most high school performances
You miss the point. Mormons aspire to BYU like geniuses to Harvard or MIT, in many ways moreso because of the spiritual link and because there is only one choice.
She didn't choose BYU to be close to home, rather because it's the school of her faith. I would bet she never even made another visit.
I agree she is authentic, clean I mean. But I can't help comparing her to Jakob's younger sister who was the same height and all same blonde hair and lanky figure but failed miserably at the sport. What was the difference you think? I believe it's quantum entanglement. She succeeded because the other had to fail. They come in pairs every success needs a failure somewhere in the world. Do you believe in quantum entanglement? The bad news is even if you don't it doesn't need for you to believe to be true to be true. It's another way of saying I'm definitely right about it but in a more subtle way lol

Respect your opinion here targeted individual Dahl. But you have not addressed the point of how and why she will never reach the levels of Beatrice Chebet sub 14 5k and sub 29 10k. I see Jane as no different from Cooper Lutkenhaus, both early teenage phenoms who will have a short peak-span and fizzle out. There is trend of teenagers maturing much faster in the modern era starting in 2017 with Jakob but later bumping into lots of problems like injuries etc.

You mean he is a TARGETING individual. Quit talking to yourself thinking people want to read your lying crap. You’re fooling no one.
Every coach at every level should have their athletes watch this. It's not about the wins and records, it's about the process and striving to be the best "You" can as an individual. It's pretty cool to see someone at her age understand this. Some world class athletes never truly comprehend this, or they don't realize it until later in their careers, or worse yet, after they've retired.
All the best to who could be the greatest American woman distance runner ever.

I believe you are targeted with directed energy weapons just to clarify. In no way was I trying to understate that or take anything away from Jane. You saw what happen to Hobbs Kessler, where is he now? A teenage phenom just like Jane and while later he is almost gone giving us the excuse that his girlfriend caused his demise this year. Bekele didn't ever use the death of his fiancee to win double gold at the world XC. Do your homework before commenting.

You talk sweet words, positive spin on things, good for the advertisers and marketers, good job on that. But I'm going to pull you to one side to tell you what the opposite reality is. It's an ugly, fked up, evil world on the other side. Entities are lurking to steal Jane away to the dark side if she is not careful, and I'm sure she will be not careful one day because that's what all young girls do, they get stupid they wanna let loose, it's one of those things ya know? And if she is attracted to her smartphone then the faster she gets pulled over to the dark side. Those entities will swallow her like meat.
No one talks about these unglamorous evil stuff on LRC because maybe most of the guys here are cowards and can't pluck up enough courage but I will. There's more to the sport than meets the eye.
I was in highschool the same time as Ritz,Webb and Hall. She has the same fan fair those guys got. I think the toughest thing is now how do you measure her success. if she never wins a cross title or sets a world record is her career a disappointment?
I hope she can stay healthy and reach her goals.
Good to have a positive non-cynical thread in LRC for once. Go get it Jane!
EDIT: I take that back a little bit, but I think she will go on to have a ton of success because of her village.
