Jakob 0% - no kick, by far the worst 800m PR out of the top guys. Would be a miracle if he wins another silver or even bronze.
Hocker 70% - he won this one in my book, the official rigged it. He will likely win one in 2027 or 28 barring injuries, his main opponent would be a mature Laros
Kerr 20% - he would always be a force to be reckoned with, but he doesn't have as much talent as Hocker and Laros, and time is running out for him at 27.
Kind of annoying to see people saying that Hocker would have won the 1500m final. He isn't known to be in the lead 100m to go and all
Hocker's kick isn't always as explosive as people like to think.
Jakob was tracking to win this year. Everything was clicking, he finished with that crazy 3k world record, he ran European cross country and beat everyone, he went indoors and just went crazy. Had he not been injured he was tracking to have the greatest outdoor season of his career and perhaps one of the greatest in distance running history. That is why everyone was saying a certain race the 5k world record would have been broken. A 3:45 indoors is a 3:42 mile outdoors. This would have just been a year for the record books, Coe 1979 or Rono 1978. If he can stay injury free and he's only just turned 25, he will have opportunities for sure. They key will be to reduce injury. I think he needs a new coach as well. He is too familiar with his brothers. If he bombs out in the 5k, I would say him coming to this championship with that poor level of fitness after not being all the way recovered was a huge mistake and a good coach would have kept him out and instead concentrated on cross country and back to a couple indoor races. With no championships next summer, set that as the summer to go after multiple world records. He needs a new coach!
You don’t understand the Norwegian culture -very few Norwegians would let a coach decide over themselves (Nordås might be an exception, but he even needs his coach to cry run to start his kick on the home stretch).
And Jakob is an outlier even as a Norwegian -even as a sixteen years old he only was listening to Gjert because he agreed with the training…

And you understand Norwegian Culture, which is strongly morally and culturally divided??? And the cross-cutting cleavages. There is no such thing as Norwegian personality. And then to the "facts", which just are your assumptions: Nordås, letting Gjert decide without some discussion? And Jakob because he agreed?

Kerr - he will be nearly 30 years old at the next one, similar to Wightman now. It's possible
Jakob - If he remains healthy throughout 2026, and challenges the WR in the 1500m and the mile next year, he'll continue to be a top contender in 2027
Hocker - No. I'll reserve my "hard no" until after I see him run the 5000m. But I'm quite confident that 2025 signifies more than this just being a "down year"
A lot can happen in 2027 though with the landscape seriously changing as 2025 has shown. Laros will continue to improve. Cam Myer's is developing into a great runner on the global stage. P. Koech will only be 20***, don't count out Wanyoni making the transition from the 800m, and god knows who else will show up in 2027 that isn't on anyone's radar yet. Timeless Tim might still be running sub 3:30's still lol
Perhaps you should also mention this year´s gold medalist AND he bronze medalist.
Timeless Tim might still be running sub 3:30's still lol
Tim is over a year younger than Wightman and only 2 years older than Kerr. The mystery is why he declined so quickly after 2019/2020 when he was still only 25.
Who would have thought after Tim's Doha gold that Jake Wightman would have the exact same WC medal haul 6 years later (1 gold and 1 silver)?
Tim has 2 silvers: 2017 after Manangoi and Tokyo 2021.

Why don´t you check the stats before you post?
Tim has run 3:28 in 5 seasons: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024. His PB is from 2021 so he didn´t decline very quickly.
Tim´s problem is that the level in the 1500m / mile is much higher now than in the years where he dominated (2018-2020).

Here you got so angry that you misunderstood me -of course there’s no uniform Norwegian culture. But I think this coach authority thing is a little more pronounced in a few cultures where the club system is a little different (Doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions there either, of course). My point was only that I think that in Norway (and probably some other countries) it’s very accepted that the athletes have the last sayings, more than some posters seem to think… And I base this f.x on Filip’s sayings that he as a coach just has to respect Jakob’s judgement and decisions in the end. And replacing him with another coach? Why? Does anybody think Jakob would let a coach decide over him self!?
Yes, things are mine assumptions, just like yours are yours. And I think by no means that Narve follows everything from Gjert without discussion. On the contrary it’s well known (at least in Norway) that Nordås has changed Gjert’s attitude to quite a lot in the training -running easy runs without watch, and running on soft and natural surfaces in nature, are good examples.
But Narve Nordås stressed in an interview that he didn’t know if he would have been able to lounge his kick (I think it was in one of the 3000m.s he won, possible a DL) and win, if it hadn’t been for Gjert’s shouting. And a thing like that I think could never have happened with Jakob -I think he always has been way more in opposition to Gjert, especially when it comes to racing strategy…

Not sure Ingebrigtsen will win another at any distance. He's only 25 but high mileage. Track distance runners generally have about a 7 year window when they can win global golds - Jakob will be at the end of that come Beijing 2027. Then there's the achilles...

2017 WC - JW sf / TC 2
2019 WC - JW 5 / TC 1
2021 OG - JW 10 / TC 2
2022 WC - JW 1 / TC 6
2023 WC - JW - / TC sf
2024 OG - JW - / TC 11
2025 WC - JW 2 / TC 4
Who would have thought that you ever will present a helpful statistics? Nobody.
Tim's placings at the last 7 global champs are way superior compared to Jake's.
Btw, since years you are telling the forum that Kenya is done. Finally you are right:
So far Kenya has won 6 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronces at these world champs (3rd and 4th at your beloved men's 1500m). Let's see what they can add in the women's 800m and men's 5000m.
The world champs are every 2 years so next world champs is the Summer of 2027.
The Judgment of Babylon will have started by then, the USA in particular is going to turn into a bloodbath... YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHATS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isaiah 2:17: ''And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.''
Not sure Ingebrigtsen will win another at any distance. He's only 25 but high mileage.
Do you just say dumb things for the sake of saying them? East Africans are always cranking out high mileage for racing 1500-10,000m. Kerr/Hocker/Nuguse and anyone else that comes through the NCAA system races in excess for years during indoor/outdoor/xcountry. Achilles injuries used to be a death sentence decades ago, now people bounce back after surgery with success quite often. Jakob was only dealing with tendinopathy and didn’t require surgery. He’ll be fine and back to form in a matter of months
see him run the 5000m. But I'm quite confident that 2025 signifies more than this just being a "down year"

We've now seen the 5000. Care to reassess your opinion?
Still a "no." Nothing about that win in the 5000m was decisive enough for me to believe he can win a global 1500m again. The whole "peaking at the right time" narrative for Hocker has just been codified to show he's dosing on something stronger than bicarb. Someone from USADA will flip
