Longtime Jakob hater here, but I don't even feel the need to dunk on him. He clearly wasn't close to ready but he still wanted to show up and give himself a chance, which deserves props. Injuries suck.
The utter delusion of his fanboys on here was something to witness though. People really convinced themselves he was in world record shape and it was all a ruse to trick his opponents. Lmao
Yep. No hate to Jakob, just the delusional fanboys. People thought he'd be in 3:25 shape after not training for 3 months!

Anyone who argued that he'd be in world record shape coming off an extended injury was a blockhead. I'm frankly surprised he appeared at all since not only was this his first race of the season, his prep was doubly interrupted.
If he makes and races the 5000 final, I think he should end his season there and do whatever needs to be done to properly heal. Surgery, no running, insanely low mileage, take your pick. But his 2024 was already compromised from Achilles issues and this season was even worse. Plus with no worlds next year, he has a lot more time to recover
Time for the roads BUM, and time for your fanboys to stop role-playing as "knowledgeable" track fans when they haven't ran a 400m repeat in their life.
This is why I said he should taken a crack at the 5000m when he had the chance. He had no guarantees of a long career due to his brothers' history of injury
He's been training at a high level since he was what, 10? He could retire now and be happy with a great career. And sometimes your body makes those choices for you.
Everyone who (rightly) pointed out that Jakob had no chance of medalling was downvoted by you know nothings. You spent a month hyping this guy up, now you don't want to talk about it?

I didn’t think he’d be in wr shape, but after seeing keely come back after back to back injuries to be the favourite for worlds I didn’t think it was impossible that Jakob would come back in shape to contend.
