USA won by 1.16. They were ahead by 1.83 at the exchange and Holmes ran a very conservative 50.73. Of course, Holmes would have run faster if she had felt the pressure behind her. But Bol gave up too early. At least she should have tried to catch Holmes. Both Irby-Jackson and Klaver in the second legs had faster splits than Bol.
Wrong. Bol had zero chance of winning so she did the right thing because she still has other events coming up (400h, women's 4x400). Good thing you are not a coach.
You sir, are an idiot. I could have coached a 2nd place team without Bol. They didn’t put her in the relay to get 2nd. Loser thinking like yours should not consider conversing with well qualified and proven experience unless you are trying to learn something to educate yourself.
I agree this has been a failed experiment. Fans don't care and the athletes don't care.
It was a little better when men and women would race each other on the same leg, but it's boring now that the men and women are required to be on separate legs.
A Distance Medley Relay would be 100x more interesting.
To LetsRunners, yes, but otherwise the DMR takes too long.
I like the mixed realy, and it’s nice to see the other countries get excited for it.
This year was a bit of a snoozefest, but the year Femke fell was box office.
Do we know if USATF even lets the athletes that qualified individually take a spot in this event if they wanted to? If I’m someone like Vernon Norwood, sure being slightly more rested for my minor chance to get an individual medal is nice but I’d take the extra medal / bit of prize money if offered that chance.
Lol no. WA won’t cancel it because this is the ONLY relay their favorite precious European boys and girls can win because US always send their B team. they have NO chance in men’s and women’s 4*4 relay at all as long as US teams don’t make mistakes by themselves. You see women’s 4*4 last year in Paris? See what a HUGE gap between US top women’s runners and Euro’s! lol.
For the men at the moment, Botswana and South Africa as well.

Yeah. She should not have tried to win the gold in mixed relay in Paris. That probably cost the silver medal in 400mH. She learned the lesson there. /s
Nah, it's a fun event and the athletes seem to like it. Good opportunity for smaller countries to put together a competitive relay. This year it was introduced for the first time at the youth level at the USATF junior olympics and the kids LOVED it!
Just another DEI event, so woke. Should be making the women compete against the men as it is - since that is just DEI as well. Women dont deserve their own category.
Dump any mixed relay. They were talking about adding 4x100 too - give it a rest - we don’t need more gimmicks. Add regular 4x800 and distance medleys instead.

That last part. I coach high school and some of the meets have started having it and the kids really get into it.

I bet she doesn't regret getting a gold medal though. But after that 47.9 split she shouldn't have tried to run for gold in the hurdles, she should have settled for silver. This time I think her coach told her to only go for gold in the mixed if it doesn't take too much effort, which I agree is a lesson learned.

American Letsrun fans thought it was awesome when Femke Bol passed the black girl for the gold last year. Not so awesome this year apparently.
At least for next 3.5 yrs, PC has been eliminated.
Oh please. PC hasn't been eliminated, it has just been changed. People who aren't going along in this 'Charlie Kirk was a national hero' charade have been fired for their social media posts. Or, for if you don't understand my point: for not being PC according to the current politics.
