India is the new Kenya. Rampant doping. Let's see this bad boy get caught.
This really blackpilled me on how much the doping must help. At least with Kenya, there was this myth that these guys were more genetically talented that seemed to have some backing at one point. Yeah they may not be legit 2:00-2:02 marathoners, but they are still 2:06-2:08 guys clean, which is still way better than most other countries per capita.
However, does anyone really believe India has some untapped talent pool of running? They are probably the worst nation at athletics when population is taken into account. About 1/5 of the worlds population and barely any medals or notable athletes. Now they just have random guys dropping sub 14 5ks in workouts looking like its a recovery run?! Whatever new dope is out there must be more potent than the old stuff. Its turning nobodies into world class athletes
I'm just a humble 14:20ish guy, always thought maybe doping could get me to 14:00 maybe (not that I would want to). Now I think maybe I could be a 13:20 guy with the sauce lol
You can't really use India's population as the basis for any judgements when 6% of the population lives off of less than 1.25$ a day, and 80% live off 6.00$ a day.

Singh did 25x400 averaging “59 and below” (coach’s words) off 60 second rest. Chelimo only did 16. That is nowhere close to “basically the same workout.”
Well Chelimos was his last workout before taper and he ran them faster I think. Yes Singhs workout was longer, but it’s not nowhere close as I suspect Chelimos last last 6 were faster than Singhs last 6.
India hired Scott Simmons to coach their distance athletes years ago. They train in Colorado Springs w American and other athletes. they are tested regularly by the USADA while training in US, and by the NADA while in India.
Singh’s training partner, Karthik Kumar was caught by the USADA this spring while training in Colorado Springs.
Came here to say exactly that: his training partner got pinched fairly recently. Think only one of them is going to use assistance?
Certainly puts him at higher suspicion, even the Indian media has remarked on this.
That being said I think people are making too much of this workout. Singh’s PRs are 12:59(i) and 27:00, both set within the last year. he’s a longshot for a medal at WCs. Killing a workout doesn’t mean he’s a world beater now.
As an aside don’t know if anyone has noticed - former NCAA high jump champ TJ Shankar and his wife have started a business and are bringing Indian T&F athletes to the NCAA. Mostly jumpers/throwers so far. A lot of untapped potential in India.

ok but was it ever stated how much of a workout it was for chelimo, if he's doing that comfortably and this guy is almost racing his workouts, well that's a big difference

"The drugs must be crazy if even an Indian can run 27:00!" India has this one guy and you basically assume he's a doped up 18:00 guy. He's obviously talented AND probably doping.

Dude sees an Indian run faster than him and automatically assumes he could be world class on drugs. (You would be a 14:00 guy)
I watched the video and was intrigued to see how fast he dropped the Kenyans who were running as a group. He made them look like also rans.
Singh ran 1359 then 8:25/3000, then he two minutes flat for 800 meters and I don't remember anything else.
I don't really see the benefit of such a workout long-term because if he's a 13-minute guy and he runs one minute slower in a workout what is the benefit basically? Similarly he ran 825 3,000 meters but I'm guessing he's a 730 type runner in the 3000 meters. Again what's the benefit?
By the way for those who are wondering and guessing that he's a Sikh, thanks to his last name - that is actually not the case - they have many Indians in different parts of India with a last name of Singh, who are not Sikh, but in fact who are Rajput Hindus. Rajputs are known as brave warriors.

This is not a good sign for Singh if Ghost1 is backing him.

Point #1: The guys he "dropped" are Americans. Thank you for your continued racism.
Point #2: If you listened, the "Kenyans" had a separate workout. Double what Singh did in preparation for fall marathons. Totally different workout goals, just the same track.
Point #3: If you dont really see the benefit of such a workout, maybe you shouldn't coach elite runners (I assume you do not) who peak at exactly the right time, hence WC/OLY qualifiers and medals.
