Despite the garbage the non-scientific fools on here like to spew, altitude conversions exist for a reason.

Nobody remembers just a couple years back when Nico's altitude performances indoor suggested times he subsequently nailed at sea level...making everyone on here who was bashing the conversions eat crow.

400s do alot of things.

It really doesn't matter how good he looks, he has no recent races under his belt, and that is a huge factor in getting the human body to perform in a race like scenario.

Jakob is extremely lean. 3:25 this year.

it being his first race, he had no races under his belt then. why couldnt he run the fastest time i. the world again now or win a chanpionship? you haters are just moronic.

It’s also 1900m/6200ft. One of the keys to the Ingebrigtsen success is to keep the intensity appropriate.

And I think the world will be surprised what Jakob brings to Tokyo. Maybe even as exciting might be some rumours of post world championship racing.

How often do you run your best 10k during the first 10k of a HM, the day after a 1500m, at the end of the season?

So many of you keep repeating this falsehood. The half marathon was not the day after the 1500m. Jakob should have been in great shape, and I am sure he was, but he obviously wasn’t in great shape for a half marathon, as he bit off more than he could chew.

I could imagine him getting in a road race or two but it's not like there'll be anyone else running on the track to put together a fast track race

Completely different training. Even Cheptegei only 10 days after his 5,000m wr in 2020 looked human over the half marathon- he came 4th. Perhaps you’re just being obstinate, or perhaps you just haven’t much real world experience as to what you’re stating. Both versions are not uncommon here.

Average workout. Rest is too long and WR is 62s. It doesn’t translate well to 55s 1500m running. He needs to do 20x400 at 54 seconds with 40s rest to wow eyes around the world. Third workout only puts him in contention again for 5000m and not 1500m

He needs 20x400m at 54.0 seconds with 40s rest. That’s the gold standard of mile by El G. El G had sub min rest for all his rest too. 63.5s is baby pace for 1500m. If he is building aerobic base but it’s already race day why is he still in building phase? It means he just isn’t ready for 1500m at worlds. We should be seeing him knocking 54s by now.

No YOU are speculating. Some of us know some relevant facts (so we can make some qualified predictions):

He regularly not only beats 26:50 guys he completely destroy them.

A healthy Jakob in top shape can at least run 26:30.

Almgren who is a 26:50 guy and training partner to Jakob thinks that Jakob is significantly faster than him in the 10000m (as he is on all distances down to the sprints).
