Solid top 5. 5:10 pace at altitude in early September shows they're very good. Especially with Hedengren and Hutchins in the mix. If they stay healthy they'll be the team to beat. But Nationals is a long way away and crazy things happen at Nationals.
Nobody saw the OK State men losing last year. On paper they were far more unbeatable than the BYU women are.

Don't forget about the Lady Mountaineers who were 2nd to them in the Big 12 Conference and a very close 2nd to BYU in the Nationals. Coach Sean Cleary has reloaded and is great at peaking at the end of the season. Should have been coach of the year last season!

The point is that xc strategy is to make sure your team is grouped closely to prevent others from scoring. So yeah, Look closer is absolutely right. Its not the 15:30 that is impressive, its the fact that 4 girls were bunched together within a second of each other. Sorry you know so little about xc strategy

they're not practicing race strategy against snow college and westminster ffs. This was a workout rust buster for them. Chamberlain would be far ahead of Goff in a real race.

Wow! Solid early season result! They should go out and party it up & have waaayyyy too many beers.
If we take the results as they were, one W runner who was a 4:20 1500 m runner just 3 months ago is now running right with Chamberlain who ran 15:24 not long ago. I don't know how to value that so I will wait for 3 weeks, at least, before crowning them champs.
