Running just faster than the women’s WR, at this point he’s making up the numbers. It’s like a tribute band
I do not think he is capable of running the kind of times he used to run but so what? Since when does he have to live his life for your sake?
He should run marathons as long as it gives him pleasure to do so. Getting paid for it makes it even sweeter. I don't care if he is running 2:20s. He lives his life and you should live yours.
What an idiot statement, over 40 and running a 2:08 marathon and getting paid big bucks to do it. Only like 3 or 4 American men at any age can run a 2:08 marathon!
Maybe the approach is just to take the opposite approach to athletes that drop off the map after doing unbelievable (pejorative) things so people will inevitably make up the defense of “well it didn’t help when he got older”

Sydney was packed yesterday just to see Kipchoge. It's true that after 30km, the magic is gone, but the time wasn't that bad. Sydney has some mean hills. It is at least 2 minutes slower than Berlin or London or Chicago. This was really a 2:06 or 2:05-high. It is the track equivalent of an old, great middle distance star still running 1:44/45 or 3:31 in an era where the young talent is all doing 1:42 or 3:29.
Rather than pack it in, I think he should try to cash in and violate his "only two marathons in a year pol icy" and run NYC. There are way fewer elites there. No rabbits.
I don't think the hilly course suits him but to have him hang with the leaders for a while might be somewhat interesting in 2025. Not sure he can do it in 2026. In 2026, if I'm NYC, I cut the appearance fee in half but still let him in as an ambassador or sorts.
He just ran a promotional 800 a few weeks ago in 2:40. Doubt that was max effort but if it was you can't run sub 3 off that fitness. I think the most likely outcome is him not starting or finishing the race, followed by a 4 or 5 hour finish.
I do not accept a record ran by someone who needed over 5x the legal masking agent to cover up whatever she was using. Why do we acknowledge a confirmed doped record
Maybe, and hear me out here, he just enjoys running. Is domination and ability to win races is in the past but as long as he gets invited and he enjoys doing the runs who cares what time he runs anymore?
