I’ll play. This would be the worst thing that could happen to the sport. If Jakob were successful, it would cause many athletes to adopt a similar strategy of not racing and then only showing up for major championships. DL meets would be filled with no names and second tier scrubs. No one would watch. The money would dry up. Pros already don’t race enough and that hurts the sport. I’m not buying tickets, streaming, or traveling to see a minor league event. Imagine the Super Bowl being contested by the MAC Conference champion vs. a good Texas high school side. The Daytona 500 is just a field of local hick kids in their Dodge Chargers and some Asan kids driving rice rockets because the NASCAR teams don’t feel like racing in February?
This sport is already on the verge of irrelevance.

I didn’t say anything about how close Jakob could have ever gotten to 3:24 or 12:29 at his peak. My guess is 3:26.22 and 12:33 or so. But that ship may have sailed by now. We shall see.
The guy has run 3:26 and 7:17. One year ago. He is 24 years old.
He is almost 25 years old and he seems to have injury problems.

3'24 no way, but he has been capable of 12'29 (the very day he ran 7'17)
This is incorrect. Komen ran 7:20 and 12:39. Think about this.
not sure why you've got downvoted, but that's actually correct. 12:33-34 is possible, but 12:29 is absurd. He might even have a better shot at 3:24.9x than running 12:29. I'm a Jakob stan, but achieving either of the marks is fantasy at this point.
