Reddit in general is ridiculous. Every community has rules and forms posts must follow. Every community about a given topic is full of stans. Where are these people in real life? You never meet anyone like them.
R/advancedrunning strikes me as a community full of people who never grow past baby's first week on letsrun. R/trackandfield is a little better, but if you want to discuss running I think letsrun is still the best place - mods aren't great but they're no worse than advancedrunning, posters are more knowledgeable.
There is some good to reddit as it allows people to find fans of their niche topics though.
Agreed. I don't like all the dumb posts here. When I say dumb, I mean political, conspiratorial, homophobic, ragebait, trolls, etc. But, I simply ignore it. It's easy. Been doing it my whole life.
Go over to r/advancedrunning and someone mentions Canova's posts on Letsrun and the Reddit army comes out like, "omgzzz, you can't go to that HELLSITE. You'll VOMIT when you see what they talk about there!!! xD rawr!"
IDK how these people functioned on the internet before overly moderated safe spaces.
