i could run a sub-50 in practice many years ago (on the 3rd of 3x400 all out, full recovery, running start), but i could not close in 52 in a 5k of probably any pace. i don't think they equate (though i wish they did). wet track may add a little difficulty, but negated by super shoes and the fact that he's got no rail and he's running almost on the inside line--maybe on the line--at times...

people also need to be careful about comparing final lap times in races that are 3 or 4 lap burnups vs races that don't kick until the bell.
Yes 100%. There is lots of chat on these forum about final lap 400m or 100m times, but they are meaningless without taking into account the full context of the race.

I would guess Laros because I don’t think running 13:26 is that challenging for him, as he is improving and is now a 3:45 miler, and as I said, Lagat ran sub 52 in a 12:59, so I am not exactly blown away by a sub 52 in a 13:26.
To be able to run sub-52 you need to be close to fresh and have a lot of speed. Obviously I agree the latter for Laros/Lagat, but not convinced he’s as strong as you think. He ran 13:10 in a race won in 13:01.85
Please stop mentioning a proven cheat lime Lagat with these other athletes.
