I like that Friday night set up they have, boxing the women's pole vault, high jump and shot put together. That's probably a city event at a shared venue.
Duplantis' sister is in the pole vault. She's got a personal best of 4.39. Both of the Moll twins from Washington are competing. They finally get to travel to Europe after seeing their Husky running teammates do it all summer. Amanda Moll has to be the greatest Liker on Instagram. Every post even semi-related to Washington track and field, she Likes it
BTW, the women's 100 hurdles is so deep and with all of them wanting to compete that it's frequently split into two heats before the main television window. Then the survivors advance to the final. The commentators don't always mention it.
As others have emphasized the women's 400 hurdles is essentially a world championships final preview. Good test for Bol. Cockrell and Jasmine Jones like to round into form and not show their cards early. Bol is still susceptible to underestimating them in the Tokyo final. But Dalilah Muhammad and Savannah Sutherland run hard every time. Bol has not attempted to go out fast all season. She may decide she doesn't need to do that this season, with Sydney elsewhere.
Bol said yesterday that it's disappointing Sydney has chosen 400 flat this year. It's still hilarious that Shannon Sharpe was remarkably ignorant enough to believe that Femke Bol would claim Sydney is ducking her. Classic case of applying American male peer pressure frailty and pretending the same attaches everywhere.
