As a guy that coaches sprinters, I will tell you that behavior is not at all unusual. It’s just how they are. To be clear, MOST, of them aren’t like that. But there are enough who act that way (often high performers) that you aren’t at all surprised to see this stuff happen.

I was a fairly high-level sprinter about a decade ago, and I saw these types of antics maybe twice ever in nearly 6 years.
Happened a lot in other sports. But usually not T&F. Sprinting does draw a lot of alpha-type personalities, but usually temper it somewhat in this sport.
We shouldn’t pretend this is normal. It isn’t. It’s a bad example and bad leadership in our sport.

Culture has changed a lot in the last ten years, though. I agree there seemed to be less of this back in the day.
With that said, Kenny B made the first page of ESPN with the shove. If all publicity is good publicity, then he probably just did more to help our sport (in terms of viewership and interest) than MJ did with the entire Grand Slam Track fiasco.
Fans love this stuff in sport. Heated rivalries make great matchups better. That shove wouldn’t even be a called fowl in Bird vs. Jordan or Messi vs. Ronaldo. Those guys shook hands after too.
This is an individual sport, it's been that way for years...4*100 means jack squat when compared to the other races. Also the question should be why did Kenny shove Noah all the way in lane 9 for a simple stare...that stare wasn't unsportsmanlike at all.
Yall think when USA Basketball come together, there were no incidents between those players during the NBA regular season or even dating back to their college days? You're a professional. You stop being a b*tch, put whatever "feelings" to the side and get the job done.
The prisons are full of stupid people like Lyles that made split second idiotic decisions because they felt "disrespected" and have no ability to control their emotions.
Lyles turned 10 years old and hasn't matured a second more emotionally or mentally since.
There's a reason no one from the Detroit Pistons, Isiah Thomas included, were ever selected for Team USA.
Totally false but nice try. “Yes, several Detroit Pistons players have represented the United States in international basketball competitions, including the Olympics. Tayshaun Prince is a notable example, having won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Additionally, Jalen Duren was selected for the 2024 USA Basketball Select Team”

I meant the “Bad Boys” era of the early 90s. Should’ve been more specific.

Give me a guy like Lyles over a guy like Knighton every day of the week.
Keeping Knighton off the team was my #1 priority in that race.
I watched him all the way around and hoped for worse than 4th.
Once that was accomplished everything else seemed like a subplot.
Everybody knows Lyles has the maturity of a 4th grader. Consequently you have to expect him to act like a 4th grader after every race. They should be handing him ribbons not medals and making sure his mom is there to give him a ride home.
