Most of that is true, but I would give kudos for his strong unique voice.
Likely the very first heavy metal song was Helter Skelter, a Paul McCartney song with the Beatles from 1968, and doom metal I Want You (She's so Heavy) from John Lennon on the Beatles album Abbey Road the following year.
Ozzy loved the Beatles. And he took it from there and ran with it. For sure leaders in metal.
You Really Got Me by the Kinks in 1964 (I think) was very heavy
BS invented the sound and the genre. Nobody can claim that for rock or punk....
I think a lot of people do a lot of mental gymnastics around the fact that they just aren't particularly fertile, or have mental problems or trauma that prevent normal relationships.

I agree with Bigmig who posted that BS was the originators of Heavy Metal.
I would say that the songs referenced above by Beatles an Kinks may be early examples of Hard Rock, but not heavy metal.
Heavy Metal is an off-shoot of Hard Rock, but different.
I came of age about the time Ozzie Osborne and Sabbath hit the scene. If found him (and them) annoying in every way imaginable. And I could never stand anything about Ozzie.
Really? Was just listening to one of his songs today at work and I don’t do that often. also had a teacher in high school who was a bodyguard for him, said he was kinda f’d up as you would expect (drugs, s6x with girls of questionable age, etc)

Local radio station has been playing his songs for hours now, and I have been listening non-stop. I like it quite a bit.
I grew up with them and really liked them when i was in junior high, but maybe not as much since then.
OO was one of a kind. One of the pioneers of heavy metal. I'd say you can make a strong argument for Led Zeppelin as one of the very first, as well. Good example, released in 1969 (a year before BS' 1st album):
If you're gonna argue about who was the real early metal, try Deep Purple. There's a case for that. Sabbath would be the pioneer of Satanic Heavy Metal.
Deep Purple was featured in the original Beavis and Butthead episode, Dog Baseball.
Ha. The very first concert I went to was Black Sabbath with Deep Purple opening for them. I was 15 years old. 1975 at the El Paso County Colisseum. Thanks Ozzy for booking a show out there. RIP
The Beatles are heavy metal??? Are you freaking insane??
Heavy Metal was 100% invented by Black Sabbath. They are ground zero.
If anything Sabbath were going against all that peace and love BS The Beatles and the rest of the pop music scene were churning out.
Get the F outta here with that mess
No. Helter Skelter has long been credited as the first metal song. Beatles did every genre, Ozzy was great as was Black Sabbath but they did melodic ballads or metal borne from songs like the two I mentioned. You may be surprised by how classical much of the metal is when you trade in distortion pedals for violins and Tama and Paisle for kettle drums….
