Isn't the Olympic 5000 usually won in a 52-53 point kick?

anyone who counts Lagat's efforts towards AMERICAN records is retarded. he is KENYAN, not AMERICAN...I don't give a good g*d damn what papers he may have signed.[quote]

I thought you said he sucks, you idiot.
Webb would be LUCKY to have him as a training partner.
B. Lagat should have already moved up to the 5000m to gain experience and then he would be more seasoned against 5000m medal hopefuls and their tactics in the 5000m for major championships. Lagat's obession with dominating the 1500m is futile as lost his chance to take over in 2005 with the absence of Hicham and not off to sparkling start in 2006. Coach Li and Bernard need to face the fact that he is former great 1500m runner who needs to move up and become a great 5000m runner before its too late. While he is trying to best his 1500m pb which he will never do again, he could be adding his name to the top 5 all-time 5000m list.
When was the last time someone pulled off winning both the 1500m and 5000m at a USA Championship? How did the race unfold I missed the men's 1500m?

This is the first time. At least for the men. Did Reggie Jacobs ever do it for the women?

Depends on how the race is run.

your an idiot...........there humans too.,you idiot.
It doesn't matter what the winner ran the final 400m in the last Championship. The new crowned 1500m/5000m Champion is capable of kicking with any of the current 5000m men. Did we forget 2005 WAF 3000m and Berlin 5000m? He beat Eliud Kipchoge, Augustine Choge, and World Champion Benjamin Limo.
Bernie is not just USA's best medal hope but he is a solid Gold medal threat in both events.
So what does everyone think? Will Lagat focus on one event in the 2008 Games or will he try to pull off the El Guerrouj double?
It wouldn' surprise me if he attempt the 1500m double at the World Championships; however, he would have to be ready for another round in both the 1500m and 5000m at the Worlds. He could definitely medal and possibly win either but I don't know if he is capable of winning both of the events. In 2006 he claims full health and great training; therefore, if he doesn't have an incredible 1500m (no more than 2 loses and sub 3:29) campaign its time for him to move to the 5000m.
boring fact-Alex Grant won the nationals at 1&2 miles in 1903.
Bernard Lagat is definitely capable of much faster than his 12:59 (5000m) pb but maybe be past his prime in eclipsing his 3:26 (1500m) pb.
Which event do you think he has the best chance at grabbing a Gold medal (2007 Worlds & 2008 Olympics) in the 1500m, 5000m, neither, or both?
i think we keep for getting that laget tested poative for his A sample a few years back. laget is a cheater and will always be.
The funny thing is. He has yet to really train for the 5000-10000. Just wait until he decides to hang it up with the 1500, and finds he is capable of 12:40, and 26:3?-4?. He will be unstoppable. And although many do not agree with him being an American yet, I would have to agree to you for now. However, if he dedicates a good 20 or so years to our distance programs, He truly is greatful to our country, and I welcome that with open arms.
Your attempt to tarnish the accomplishment of Bernard Lagat is weak and idiotic on your part. The lack of proper sentence structure and poor spelling indicates your not capable of comprehending Lagat's accomplishments or commenting on prementioned topic. Bernard Lagat is capable of running with anyone in the 1500m or 5000m. The previous poster had good marks as I also think Bernard is capable of very low 12:40 and sub 26:40 if he trained primarily for those distances. Once he starts running more than one 5000m a year overseas his true potential will astonish many.
GO LAGAT!
The American records in the 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m are all easy targets for Bernard Lagat over the next few years. I would love to see our records taken down to 3:28.5, 7:23, and 12:39 before Lagat retires. His presence as a U.S. athlete will force our young athletes to step up and give them encouragement, drive, and higher goals as he performs well in the USA red, white, and blue.

Didn't you ask the same question earlier on this thread and noone paid any attention to it or you?
The Ethiopians Sileshi S. and Kenny B. may think they have the gold and silver medal resigned for them if they contest the 5000m at the World or Olympics. Its too earlier for me to speculate if Lagat is a gold medal threat after one 3000m and 5000m win over a couple of top Kenyans. Its possible he could become the world record holder in the 5000m but isn't it also possible he only improve marginally or not at all in the 5000m?
