there are the guys who need to be asked very nicely to come to meets, and then there are the runners who are basically begging for spots. makes sense they'd share a room. one might consider them lucky to get half a room paid for.

Nike has it built into their track contracts that a certain number of minimum appearances at Nike-affiliated events must be made. So if there are say 6 events in the calendar year, you have to run in 2 or 3 of them (for example) or be subject to possible contract reduction. I know back in the Boris Berian contract lawsuit the two listed events were Pre and the Penn Relays. Not sure what the events are now, but this is probably why the runner had to race at Pre.
Idk if it is just me, but Ollie irked me the wrong way in this episode. This plus him talking about Nuguse and how he was oblivious to Rai Benjamin and some things related to Steve Prefontaine. I appreciate some of his takes and insights, but some of these revelations were imo probably best to keep to himself and his Pre roommate and Nuguse.

Is racing 1 mile (with warm up and cool down) that big of a deal? If the medical folks clear the activity, they clear the activity. Josh Allen was one of the best quarterbacks in the league last year with broken bones in his hands.
