Yeah, I'm not going to get okey doked again by Mu. I live a mile away from where she trained with the Trenton Track Club. I think she had the potential to be the greatest female 800M runner of all time. I was all in, a huge fan.
Then she threw it all away. I've written about this before, but she's Nuke LaLoosh from Bull Durham, where Crash Davis says "Come on, Rook. Show us that million-dollar arm, 'cause I got a good idea about that five-cent head of yours", then later says "you got a gift. When you were a baby, the Gods reached down and turned your right arm into a thunderbolt. You got a Hall-of-Fame arm, but you're pissing it away."
Nuke LaLoosh did redeem himself by listening to Davis, but unfortunately Mu's coach is the horrible Bobby Kersee, and I have seen zero indication that Mu has learned from her mistakes. She might still have that million-dollar athleticism, but I'm still not sure about that head of hers. Her problem was almost completely mental so forgive me if I wait to see if she's actually figured out if she wants to be a professional runner and wants to actually win.
“And I think once I gain that within myself and within the Lord, I think he’ll lead me into the direction of winning, of running fast and everything else that comes with it.”
This is her problem. Some imaginary dude in the clouds is not going to help you win anything. Hard work, talent and dedication will.
Imagine being an adult and putting your future in something that doesn’t exist 🤦🏻
Mu emanates an aura of semiethereal weirdness and can only perform well when she believes she is - and is physically - clear of her opponents.
Keely has a faster PR than Mu and a much stronger practical competitive fire. If healthy Keely beats her anyway but I dont even see Mu returning to offer the challenge. Mu beats herself.
All talk until she actually does something that is equal to her talent.
You mean like win an Olympic gold medal? Is there an Olympic platinum medal that she is perhaps missing?
You incels are so freaking weird.
Right? American record, world title, Olympic title, Olympic relay title, NCAA title, NCAA record, and even a world champs bronze. Not much more to do for her already unless she switches events. In which she already has a US nationals silver in the 1500m. Not many of her active peers measure up to these accolades. Really only Keely and maybe Ajee who has has had a full athletic career somewhat measure up to her resume wise. And you have to convert semenya year results medal wise lol
The article is great. I'm very encouraged about Mu's prospects after reading it. It reveals she loves running, which is key to me. Her talent is off the charts.
It also includes a lot from coach Kersee who explains he thought it was important to take Mu to Paris last year.
So the SI cover wasn't a lie after all. She really did light up Paris.
Not really a fan but certainly curious. Will she run in lane 2 and 3? Will she look unhappy? Will she look any more comfortable running in a pack? And if nothing has changed what does Kersee do to earn his money?
