Came on here thinking this was about the lame adidas 100km show which is extremely underwhelming. Delighted to find it is of the legend that is Rodd sprinting.
I saw him a few weeks ago. He sounded pretty good. Not like he did in his 30's but way better then a lot of old singers (*cough*David Lee Roth *cough*). He was also moving around better than most 80 year olds.
That's great Rod, you're doing really well, but 14.21 seconds by Kenton Brown is the actual record for an 80 year old.
If Stewart can get there,17.xx is actually a very competitive time for age 80. Third in the 2025 USATF Masters Outdoor championships was 18.43. In these older age groups, there's usually one guy who is genetically gifted who sets the bar almost incredibly high, but the depth of competition isn't there. I've finished second behind Kenton Brown. He's just better in the sprints than the other 80-year-olds on the planet. I'm glad he's aged out of my age group so I won't have to race him for the next couple of years. ;)
Could be an idea for a race-off? Rod v Mick over 100m...Would do more to save athletics than GST lol.
This one's actually a pretty good idea...
They could alternate Stones and Stewart songs on the PA system pre event, set up a gambling/wager booth, have a stones/stewart trivia quiz (phones must be turned in), have them play a few sets with their bands post race, have food trucks, beer, and sell mick jagger and rod stewart bobble heads, among other things.
