Pre once said, "Somebody may beat me, but they are going to have to bleed to do it,"
We need a modern day version of that quote for Marco. That boy BLEEDS when he races.
That’s sort of an odd thing to say. Should Langon hire an ad agency to start writing up some quotes?
Seriously though, this kid has had an amazing year. Ran his last 3200 today in 8:16 and he’s only 20 years old. He’s in a good position to be yet another strong contender to make U.S. teams starting in 2027.
He has talent yes. Does he have a hard upbringing? I don’t know. Maybe he needs a chip on his shoulder to motivate him. I can tell you that Masau and Samuel, have some stories to tell about past hardships but we will never know because they don’t bring them up in interviews.
Some of y'all are pathetic, arguing over what your opinions are over what is considered the perfect race on a message board. People who like to argue just for the sake of arguing are a $hitty bunch. Why can't you just say he had a good race? It was pretty evident that he was running hard and left nothing on the track. Not sure how anyone can't respect that.

The difference is Masau and Samuel are running for themselves, Marco is running for his family. What does it matter the substance one talks about during an interview? You essentially said you don't know if Marco had a hard upbringing, but Masau/Samuel did have past hardships. Marco flat out has said he had a challenging upbringing. It's pretty clear you just want to throw shade towards Marco and you're the type of person that will find any reason to criticize someone. Not a good look.
Guys can’t you see, Langon is all heart, whereas Musau is talented. Get it?
seriously rojo this is a bad take. Lots of runners try hard.
Yeah, I think rojo is seeing what he wants to see.
I'm not sure how Langon was any more gutsy than anyone else. It sure looked like a good effort and falling down at the end helped bolster that argument, but it's not obvious that he was more gutsy than his competitors.

Agreed. Rojo is making something that wasn't there. All of a sudden both the arms and the turnover weren't there. That's the opposite of gutsy. I'll bet you he's disappointed in himself for not maintaining his concentration. A complete mental implosion. This is one of those races where you want a do-over. He'll get more chances.
When you take a guy , who is unafraid and can run 3:33.x as well at age 20? Normally in our country this would be OMG sh-t. He is really really good, ran very intelligently moving up gradually, I knew he would be really good...this good? Did not see that.

I’d tend to agree. I didn’t really see anyone in the race try to sneak a medal as we’d say in LRC parlance. Hansen tried to break from the front and still finished hard. The CBU guy was aggressive. Habtom was flat-out and emptied the tank. Musau took the lead with a nice move and pressed. Langon attempted to come over the top and fell short. Everyone ran pretty valiantly. Not always the case in races. I appreciated that Langon seemingly will always go for it.

Marco did not do a single thing wrong. Raced perfectly and simply got nipped by two guys who are just a bit better (Samuel doubling back from Wednesday's 10,000).
Went to the arms with 100m to go and pulled even. He should be extremely proud of himself. Turns 21 in 6 weeks. Plenty of time to improve.
Never saw him as a guy who would win an NCAA title. Now, I can see that happening next year. Good luck to him.

Musau and Samuel's families live in huts with dirt floors. No electricity, no running water. You don't think they need the money from their pro careers?
The average income of Langon's town, Bridgewater Township, is $158,000 per year. He also has a big NIL deal.
