I just ordered some new Asics gel Nimbus 26's for $109 dollars from Amazon. It's the same as before tariffs. I always get one version behind as it's discounted. It's been the same price for the 25's, 24's and 23's.

I paid $179.88 for a pair of VF3. That's less than what I paid for the original VF five years ago.

I am looking at 2100 vs Kayano in my size. We start at $125 but quickly climb to $150.

Based on experience I tend to think Kayano is luxury compared to the 2100 series. But the Kayano is cheaper right now (in my size).

When we shift over to New Balance this becomes the full $200. No way around it.

Brooks A2drenalines and Nike Structures dont appeal to me.

I buy all my running shoes on eBay. Just got a nice pair of Nike Goretex trail running shoes (which I use for running on the road here in rainy Seattle) for $80.

I should be clear that I am buying *new* running shoes off eBay. Usually I pay a bit more than $80, maybe $100 - $125, and ebay verifies authenticity typically.

I blame all the suckers willing to pay ungodly amounts of money for shoes, whether for style or to gain an advantage from the springs/foam.

With regard to tariffs, which I haven't experienced yet since I'm in Europe for the time being, they absolutely do have an enormous effect on the price of the shoes, adding $56 to a $100 pair in this example.

You don't need a carbon plated shoe for a 5k or 10k. It won't matter for a 15-20 minute 5k runner.

Noticed the uptick, too, in recent years. A lot of shoe tech is advertising/marketing. Most companies have last years model in clearance. You might have to grab a color you don't love but you should still be closer to $100 +/-.

Yeah I just got some Brooks Adrenaline for $95 on Amazon. They’re a really weird color, but relatively cheap.

No, not all shoes are $200. Take the time you spent spewing your cr#p here, and spend it shopping around for better prices. Are prices higher than 20 years ago? Yes. Everything is more expensive. Complaining on here isn't going to change the current economy, or make Trump no longer your President. How about working? Log off and punch in. You'd be surprised how well that helps pay for things.
