Flotrack bugmen are implying this is the clean world record or some other such nonsense. As in, we're supposed to disregard all 90s Chinese times but assume Kenyan times are legitimate, when it's Kenya who's been linked to bust after bust this past decade. Absolutely comical.
My "favorite" part is, even with all the 2025-era dope, Italian coaching, wavelights, pacers, clown shoes, etc Chebet still didn't get *that* close to 8:06. Wang Junxia, I kneel.
I agree. Completely ridicuous to assume that any Kenyan time is clean at this moment in the sport.
Even with all the PEDs in the world it’s hard to imagine 8:06 by that person at that time. Maybe the track really was short
....
It really makes you think the track had to be short because they never performed to that level again. Yes Wang and someone else got medals at Worlds or Olympics but those 1500m and 3000m performances were never equalled by any of 1990 runners.
If by "and someone else" you meant 6 others, ok. They were definitely doped to the gills, but Wang the runner of the 8:06 closed the final mile of her 10k gold at worlds that year in 4:26 (70, 68, 67, 60) in far from ideal conditions to open up a gap of 23 seconds on the field. I'm not sure about 8:06, but she was certainly capable of what Beatrice ran today, with all the doping.
Every single person who ran those crazy times in China went on to medal in the world championships that year. And those who medaled but did not win gold were only beat by other chinese runners. It was quite dominant. They didn't equal the times, but you make it sound like China wasn't totally obliterating the world championships that year, and they definitely were.
You are really understating it when you say, Wang and one other person got some medals. At the 1993 world championships the Chinese won every distance, grabbing 6 of the 9 distance medals using 6 different runners!
Wang Junxia (8:06 1st all time 3k): Result - Gold 1993 10k, Gold 1996 olympic 5k, silver 1996 olympic 10k
Qu Yunxia (3rd all time 3k 8:12.2): Result - Gold 1993 3k, Bronze 1992 olympic 1500m Liu Dong (winner of the 800m in that China race): Gold 1993 1500m Zhang Linli (4th all time 3k 8:16.5): Result - Silver 1993 3k, 8:30 Zhong Huandi: Silver 1993 10k, Silver 1991 10k, 4th 1992 olympics Zhang Lirong: Bronze 1993 3k Wang Xiuting: Silver 1993 10k
Not saying the track definitely was the right distance, and these performances are not clean, but don't make it sound like China didn't back them up at worlds that year because they did. The running was tactical, so they didn't equal the times, but they were still top notch times in hot conditions totally obliterating the non-chinese runners.

Not quite. The Chinese stars were doped to the gills in the 90s, literally uncontrolled all year long except for at Worlds and Olympics, when neither EPO nor blood transfusions were detectable.
Since 2017, the Kenyan stars have to dope in a rather restricted manner, even while in Kenya, in order to avoid getting caught by the AIU. EPO and blood transfusions are detectable of course. A good example is Kipruto, whose blood doping values are well documented: he was obviously holding back with the dosages (the AIU called it "sophisticated") and was still banned, although years later, because he only went a few times in 4 - 6 years above the threshold.
I thought it was interesting on the Athlete Lounge feed that Centro said plainly that the all-time 1 & 2 marks are widely believed to be doped. Feel like a clean runner doesn't go there.
It is my understanding that Chebet is in a training group with Sheila Chelangat who got suspended for EPO last week, and Faith Chepkoech, Chelangat’s sister, also suspended for EPO last summer.
It’s also possible all of you are just butthurt because a Chinese woman is the greatest distance runner woman of all time. 🇨🇳
Dear Empress Wang,
I like your style, it reminds me of Jakir who vehemently defended the lion Makhloufi. I'd like to see more posts from you in the future, promoting the total domination and obliteration of Wang Junxia.

So will there be an investigation as to where they obtained the drugs? Who their agent is?

They have a lot of running talent in Kenya and Chebet is an outlier even in Kenyan talent pool.
EPO. It is hard to detect. Testers have to get lucky. Usually they get caught for something else like a steroid that is easier to detect. Kenyan running is a complete joke. Anyone living and training in Kenya should be barred from international competition.
