Central California is huge. I bet the number of alternative facilities is much greater than zero. I hope they are least looking at alternatives. The current situation is far from ideal.
I doubt it'll be that bad. When has the forecast ever been right for weather even a few days in advance? In Sac they said it'd be 90+ all week. It was 79 today.

So list some alternative sites. It's not like no one knows it's hot there. They have been holding the state meet in early June there for years and I'm sure people have suggested moving it many times. Like with everything CIF-related change, creates a myriad of political issues.
As you mentioned, the political issues, along with other logistical issues, is probably a bigger road block than finding another site. I only hope that a few years of 100+ heat will force them to have an open mind to alternatives. But if as originally posted, if this is normal for Fresno at this time, then I will just have to trust that they are already have this under some consideration. But that is a decision for those that get paid to make that decision.

The average high temperature in Fresno for June 1st, is 93 degrees so 104 is not the normao and had the meet been scheduled for this weekend, it would it have been in the 80s. A 104 high is not as bad as it sounds. There is minimal humidity and once the sun is not shining on the athletes it’s not that bad, and by the time of the 3200m, the heat has minimal effect.
Everyone is competing in the same conditions, so no one is unfairly disadvantaged. It's a competition, not a time trial. The point is to try to win, not to demand perfect conditions so that you can run your absolute best possible time.

The CIF doesn’t just randomly assign the meet, the meet is awarded through a bidding process. If people want it to be somewhere else, encourage a district, college, or organization to prepare a bid that can be considered when decisions are made. The CIF knows Clovis is hot this time of year, but it has the best combination of affordable hotels, restaurants, facilities, central location, volunteers, officials, and a competent organization to manage the event. Everyone would rather spend a weekend at the beach than the Central Valley, but they actually need a competent organization to run the meet and Clovis does that better than anyone else. They host state finals for Swimming and XC for the same reasons. And they’re building a new school with a giant arena. Don’t be surprised if they host wrestling and basketball in the future.
how about just begin the meet late. sleep throughout the hot day and let the 3200m begin at midnight. a luke warm 1600 is probably ideal anyway. any other distance isn't really affected by temperature.

Actually, no that isn't how it works. They will postpone the events if the "wet bulb" is over a certain mark. Anyone that wants to translate the CIF rules on this can go for it:
The California high school track and field state prelims will be held in Clovis, CA on Friday, May 30 where there will be temperature high of 104°F. The next day when finals is supposed to be held, Clovis, CA will have a temperature high of 101°F. Given that these athletes are expected to do a lot of physical activity on these days, it is my recommendation that the state meet either be canceled or postponed to a time when temperatures don’t have a significant chance in increasing heat stroke among athletes.
Is it really any worse than the hot and humid weather in the Midwest or South?
Prelim running events start at 5:00pm and finals 5:45pm. Field events are earlier. The state meet used to always be at Cerritos College in So Cal with better climate but schools in the north complained about always having to travel. So then around 1997 the meet alternated between Cerritos and Sacramento for awhile. Starting around 2009 they decided to meet in the middle in Clovis which is always hot. They won't cancel or postpone. .
My parents lived two blocks from a back entry that was right at the stadium/track. I walked to several state meets and professional meets, while in HS and after when visiting my family. Northern Cal might complain about travel, but the total travel they did is always dwarfed by the travel cost of the mass number for athletes from the southern half that have to go to them.
I always remember watching the girl's 4x440y in 1979. A Girl's 4x440 team was announced as Howard, Howard, Howard, and Howard. All sisters, no twins. Senior Atra 59.2, soph Tina 58.3, frosh Denean 53.7, and junior Sherri 52.0 set a National Record of 3:44.1. That will never be repeated. Four siblings, separate births, all the proper age for their class .
